Shortest drive to snow

So my crew has come up with the idea for a last minute snow vacation over Mardi Gras.
My kids have never seen it.
Flight seems unreasonable on this short time frame so considering driving.
Is North Carolina my best bet for reliable snow, real or manmade?
How about Tennessee?
Again, I'm in NOLA.
Thanks for suggestions.

Snow has been weird this year. iirc Alabama has gotten more than Missouri this year. And until last week Vegas has had more than St Louis.
Your highest probability would likely be NC/VA/WV boarder area.
If you can plan a trip last second, northern Arkansas and southern MO get snow, but its hard to predict more than a few days out.

Well if it's anything like the GFS forecast predicts, then you may not have to drive far. Granted this is still wayy out and unreliable but could be fun for the south around Valentine's day

North Carolina is the only place within reasonable driving distance where the snow is worth a flip and even then it's not the best. If you want your kids to experience snow then a flight is really a must. Southwest has been running sales.

Beech Mountain NC. It’s 5,000+ ft in elevation.
There are times where there will be 6 inches of snow up there and none in Boone a few thousand feet down the mountain. It’s a quiet little ski town, but lots to do in the surrounding area (blowing rock, grandfather mountain, blue ridge parkway)
