Additional Stimulus Checks/Extended Government Unemployment?

Of course employers are complaining all over the place that they can't find labor (really what the mean is cheap labor) due to having to compete with Government Unemployment.
I have no doubt that employers will try to make sure that government unemployment is not extended past September to try to force people to take low wage jobs.
But here's my question, do you think we will see any additional Stimulus Checks and/or an extension of Government Unemployment past September?
My guess is Congress passes one more Stimulus Check (probably another $2,000 to try to boost consumer spending and the economy post pandemic) but no extension of Government Unemployment.

It should have never been extended the last time.

Jesus Christ I hope not.

The government is terrified with the "shite Storm" that will follow once the freebees stop keeping things somewhat calm.

So you think they'll give additional Stimulus Checks/extended Government Unemployment to placate the masses? What kind of "shite storm" do you think would happen?

This can't go on. I see so many restaurants closed or with weird limited hours. I had no idea until the other day this is going to September. A lot of business won't be able to get through the summer IMO.

Excusing your ignorance of what has actually been passed, the unemployment extensions until Fall and the trillions of “free” money being handed out..
So employers bad ...free government money good?
What the actual frick?
Government will not keep paying people to not work to “force” people to work?
Well of course people won’t go back to work if they get free money to not work.
They are screwing our economy. The economy was turning around and ready to go and they used the opportunity to give (unneeded) handouts so the could have a pork playground.
In the last week my local bike shop had to close on a week day because they can’t find people to work, Uber driver told me delays were because people stopped driving to draw benefits, and the local pizza place has to apologize for the long deliver bc they can’t find drivers.

I don't think it's so much that many people don't want to go back to work but they don't want to go back to work the way it was.
People don't want to go back to dead end jobs, soulless corporate office jobs, jobs where you are working 60-70-80 hours a weeks, jobs where you are under constant stress and other situations. People want decent work that fulfills them in some way.
I think where people are really going to push back is when a lot of the big companies start trying to force their workers back into the office. The pandemic has shown that so much of our work can be done remotely and you eliminate both the time wasted and the expense of commuting. I think employers are going to have to justify to their employees why they have to return to the office when they've been working remotely successfully for a year now. I know for me when I start looking for new work I am placing a heavy emphasis on jobs that can be done remotely at least part of the time. I would love to find a job that is full remote.
But I agree that there are some people who genuinely do not want to go back to work.
How do you think the government will approach it? Will they end the Government Employment cold turkey in September, extend it awhile longer at the $300/week or try some type of wean off approach where maybe they extend it but now instead of $300/week it's $200/week? Technically extend it but make it financially not worth it to stay on compared to getting a job. What do you think the government will do?

I completely get what you're saying and I've experienced it myself. There was a McDonald's by me that I was driving thru one day and they had a sign announcing that they were closing at 2 p.m. that day. I asked the cashier guy why and he said it was because their 2 afternoon people called in and they simply had no labor to run the place.
But here's my thing, don't the employers share some of this blame? I don't see well run places like Chick fil A or Hobby Lobby having trouble finding labor. Maybe some of these companies need to do some soul searching and find out why their jobs aren't appealing. And it's not just because of pay either. Retail and Food have long been known to be terrible work environments with horrible pay, inconsistent hours, terrible benefits and terrible management. Maybe if some of that changed people would be more willing to work at some of these places.
I agree that the government shares some fault in the current situation but I think employer's share some fault as well.
What do you think the end game will be with all this? What do you think the government does? End it cold turkey, extend it but start to try to wean people off it or extended it again at the same $300 level? Do you see any additional stimulus?

yea, its bad. feels like this was the govt indirectly forcing businesses to increase their wages in order to attract employees.
no way in hell anyone is going to back to $7.50 an hour after this

How much more do you want your Big Mac to be? If you think they can make you a burger paying a kid $15 an hour and it not cost you $10 or more, you're out of your freaking mind. I really do hate when people, who have never owned a business and don't realize the costs, push this narrative. Pay scale is directly attributed to skill set, or at least in the real world it is.

The student loan forbearance is another thing to watch.
People are gonna start getting hit with 300-1200 a month liquidity hits and aren’t gonna like it.

This entire thing was perverse to begin with . After 2 months it should have been shut off dead cold. Only one stimulus check. Now inflation is running wild ( check lumber prices). The election was Stolen and we now have an illegitimate president who should be enjoying retirement in Delaware. Yes ,a lot of these jobs create a vacuum ( suck) ,but they were meant to be entry level jobs, not a career. Want a meaning full career , attend a trade school and learn a trade.

My BF applied for unemployment for 3 months when covid shut everything down in early 2020. He got off unemployment as soon as he possibly could. Then came the nasty notices asking why is he closing his unemployment claim. It was very intimidating letters letting him know he'll will have to reapply and possibly not qualify later if he ended his claim.
