I haven’t flown since March, and very possibly could have missed a change in mandate, but how are people walking around DFW without masks on going through pre-check?

I got through security and took mine off to have a cup of coffee. Not sure if I’m putting it back on or not before I board.

Are there allowances for no masks with ailments or vaccines?

Masks are still a requirement for everyone once you get on the plane unfortunately

It’s required, but I haven’t really seen it being enforced recently. However, the airline will enforce it once you are on the plane

You’re supposed to wear one once you enter the airport. The only time you can take it off is when you are seated at a restaurant/bar or eating or drinking in the airport.

As stated above, the enforcement in the airport is pretty lax.

Same deal on the plane: have to have one on unless you are eating or drinking. Enforcement depends on the flight crew. Some don’t care, some are Nazis.

This is what I noticed at a few airports this past weekend.
And on Southwest, it seemed that they staff wasn't being strict on enforcing it once you were in your seat, especially if you had a snack or drink in front of you.

This. Flown twice in the past three weeks and everyone had one on going through security. I noticed many people took it off in the airport (in the terminals / at the gates) though and there was no enforcement. The airlines will enforce it though at boarding. On the plane, as with anything, it's up to the individual flight attendants. I had one that walked up and down the aisle monitoring (United) and on the next flight (United) I had mine off for majority of the flight and no one said a word.

I've found I can make a Biscoff last a solid 30 minutes.

Just got back from PR on Sunday night. You have to wear your mask in the airports unless you're eating or drinking and same goes for on the plane.

I flew through DFW Monday (Memorial Day) and this past Sunday and 90% of the people had masks on. I think airports have shifted from "requiring" to heavily suggesting you wear one in the airports. Fresno had a sign that said we strongly suggest you wear a mask (not require).

Nashville had the signs still up that said it was federal law to not wear mask in the airports. Saw a few without mask there, but many more without in Nola airport.

I was in 4 different airports in the last couple weeks. Masks were worn by most everyone in the airport other than eating, but I didn't see any real enforcement.

Completely different on the airplane itself though. They're definitely enforced on there with constant reminders & threats.

I flew to and from Dallas Love from Las Vegas last week

No one said shite to me about not having a mask on in the airport. The only people who cared were the TSA security but I took it off as soon as I was through. Then they made me put it on the plane of course. But in the airport itself no one cared.

Also the airline I flew, Southwest, let me wear my neck gaiter instead of an actual mask. That wasn't the case last time I flew.

Yep the crew I flew on Southwest a couple weeks ago were total mask nazis. Getting on the intercom every 15 minutes to remind us its a >>>>>> FEDERAL LAW VIOLATION <<<<<< in direct defiance of the >>>>>>>>> FEDERAL GOVERNMENT <<<<<<< if you do not wear a mask!!! The >>>>> FEDERAL GOVERNMENT <<<<<< will not play games! WEAR YOUR MASK! *foams at mouth*

Unfortunately it is still a federal mandate. Set to go through September 13th. Am praying it ends before then.

Nobody will say anything to you in the terminal but once on the plane it’s definitely enforced to some degree no matter your flight crew. Some are lax and some are nazis.

Most of the PAs someone else was bitching about are company directed. It’s a TSA/FAA directive so unfortunately crews have zero choice but to enforce it on some level or risk a fine themselves as with any other FAR. It’s a terrible situation all around but if you’re flying Delta most ATL based crews are very lax and as long as you have something on nobody will care.
