a little thing done by Baseball America, based on the summer leagues these kids played in.

LINK

Ryan Schimpf #1 Valley League
Leon Landry #1 Cal Ripken Sr. League
Austin Ross #2 Central Illinios League
DJ LeMahieu #6 Cape Cod League
Micah Gibbs #15 Team USA

Adam, thanks for the post. Congrats to the players, great job.

Is the Cape Cod league considered the premier wood bat league? If so a #6 could be considered equivalent or better than a # 1 in the other leagues?

No mention of Blake Dean? I heard he had a pretty disappointing summer league. Hopefully he'll return to form again when the college season starts.

Congrats to all of the above players. Let's hope they stay hot all year.

the Cape Cod is superior to all the other leagues besides the players who go to Team USA (Micah Gibbs).

The players who have great summers pretty much give them good standing with major league clubs. Almost every organization has scouts at the Cape so it would not suprise me that if LeMahieu had another great year he's a top 5 rounder in 09.

As for Blake Dean, he doesn't translate into the wood bat as well as we would have hoped, but don't be worried. Dean along with alot of others were worn out after that 23 game winning string lasting well into mid June. He uses the aluminum bat as well as anyone else in college baseball so expect him to be a preseason All-American lock.

Baseball should make a serious run in 2009.

I was really looking forward to seeing them start fall practice. Will just have to wait a little longer since they postponed it.
