AP: NY AG could try to sue gun manufacturers under new law

Slippery Slope

Lets blame the manufacturers for the actions of criminals!

I guess we should sue all the car manufacturers every time someone rear ends or crashes into someone else because they were texting and driving.

When will people be able to sue Bluebell for giving them diabetes?

I would say I hope the Supreme Court handles this but the way some of the alleged conservative judges are turning out I have my doubts.

Yet you can’t sue vaccine manufacturers.

I wonder if they'll seek damages against China for the wuhan virus, or if they'll just blame those that are unvaccinated

The new law comes at a time when New York City in particular is facing a rise in shootings. Overall, violence is well short of the historic highs of the 1990s, or even in the New York of the early 2000s.

Gotta make sure that narrative is crammed in there as soon as possible.

quote:

Supporters of New York’s bill argue that gun manufacturers can still be held liable if they violate other laws concerning the sale or marketing of firearms.

I get that this isn't a "we can sue manufacturers when someone gets shot" kind of deal, but man it seems like a slippery arse slope.

that would prohibit the sale, purchase or transfer of firearms to anyone with an outstanding warrant for a felony or serious offense.\

so you don't even have to be convicted of a felony?

and these people want to tell us they want criminal justice reform?

Google and manufacturer's of autonomous vehicles have to be terrified. Every single time a person dies, they'll be sued into oblivion, and juries (once instructed it's allowable) will just throw money at verdicts.

I remember when that was a cute little point to make. However, the progressives have revealed that they would be just fine with that, too.

You should all have to use public transportation in the name of Climate Change. Of course, the elite will be jetting around as usual.

i don't even get the argument. selling and possessing guns are 2 of the most highly regulated rights in the US. gun manufacturers aren't selling guns directly to consumers, on top of all the regulations those sellers have to deal with. most all of these illegal weapons were sold by individuals who aren't FFL holders, so you're likely dealing with 2 layers (man to shop and shop to initial owner) before you even get to the transaction at issue that could be claimed to be negligent.

Facts. Just put a crying family member in front of the jury and money pours out to them in droves.
