This is what I don’t like about links golf

It can happen in any place but especially links in these places but the weather determines so much who the winners are.
They keep saying it but the guys who went off early had a MUCH easier course today than the guys going off later. Tomorrow, who knows could be reversed and basically half the field is out of the running because of bad luck. I know it happens everywhere but it happens more in links golf

So, in other words, everyone takes their shot like everyone else? Sounds fair to me.
Why are you bitching?

Rub of the green, my friend.

I’m not bitching man just observing. There’s more luck involved at a place like this in playing when the wind and weather is right than there is at most other tournaments

Fair enough. But isn’t the weather usually shitty for everyone? The announcers on the broadcast this
Morning were gushing about what a splendid morning it was for golf. Seemed like this weather is an anomaly. I’m sure it will require more luck the rest of the weekend.

What’s the other option? Play 8man groups and shotgun start?
Play the hand your dealt. Sometimes get shitty cards.

It does suck, but it just kinda is what it is.
IMO it was worse a couple years ago at the US Open when Shinnecock greens got out of hand and the course was basically unplayable by the time the leaders teed off of Saturday. Brought multiple guys back in the tournament who were on the cut line just because they teed off before the greens got fully baked. At least this is just the luck of the draw with weather and not gross mismanagement
ETA: DJ got completely screwed over by the Shinnecock disaster

Well, Morikawa was in the "unlucky" side of the draw...

It happens everywhere, and for most professionals it all evens out over time. You rarely see them bitching about it.

If it were luck, wouldn't that mean tour bottom feeders would win? Or that there would be no clear winner after 3 rounds?
