Mystic Creek a review

Me and the baws just got back from a trip to Mystic Creek.
Pros
It’s primo!
Cool layout with some elevation changes
Nice club house! Awesome view from the porch
Good food in the grill
$3 beer
Cons
It’s in the middle of nowhere
It’s fricking difficult! You can be in a green side bunker or just off the green, and not be able to hold the green even on a perfect shot. We would go stand on the other side of the green to stop the other guys ball from going in the water. The only play would be to hit it back down the fairway and hit back at the green.
It’s just stupid hard!
I would suggest playing it 2 days in a row. Knowing the course would at least let you know where to miss to give you a chance at par or bogey.
I played bad to compound my experiences. I shot a smooth 103
ETA: We played Links in Alexandria on the way home today. I shot a 71 w/5 birdies today. Nice little turn around. The course is in great shape. It reminded me of The Wetlands in Lafayette.

One ups or two ups?
Can't hack it when you come to God's Country and play a real golf course. Stay on your flat swampy goat ranches and leave the real golf to the baws that can handle it.

I shot 93 at mystic and I want another shot at it. A little course knowledge would go a long way out there.

Once I was able to play mystic more it became easier. Got to manage it. Was once hard to break 100, but not I consistently score in the mid 80s now like any course.

Nice review baw I hear it’s tough, I haven’t played it but have baws who have, I’d give Mingo 3 a side there from the tips though….

Definately helps. Have to play to your strengths and take your medicine. If I'm not hitting my driver well, I play for bogey and hope for par.
Can have some disastrous holes. Very unforgiving. Hard greens that are tough to hold and mostly protected by bunkers or other hazards. The greens are fairly large though. Honestly didn't think it'd ever get finished. They have exceeded expectations and continued to improve it. Amazing what can be done with heavy equipment, money, and time. I watched it slowly develop from day one as I used to pass it everyday going to and from work. It makes me want to get back to playing, but I ain't starting back there!!!!

I've always thought they should build some guest cabins/cottages. Make it easier for out of town guests to stay close and make a weekend of it. There had been talk of it, but not sure if it was just rumors or they actually are thinking about it. shite, I'd stay just so I could drink and not risk DWI. Of course, I could get there on a four wheeler and some trails from my camp.

Definitely! We played the 2 ups based on advice from friends who have played there before. We would’ve been better off on the 1 ups. More than once, we hit it straight through the dogleg/turn in the fairway.
Knowing the course would make a HUGE difference. Also, I just played like dog crap, so hard course or no, it would’ve been a bad day.

Mystic Creek is a much better course than Squire. Only thing Squire has it beat in is the amount of pretentious asswipes walking around like their shite dont stink.

Mystic is one of those courses you might play best the first time you see it. After it's kicked you in the sack a few times you get afraid to pull the trigger on some shots.

Those have been there since day 1, which I think has been about 8 years, but cabins were the plan.
