I think the reason they got REALLY pissed is that Morey was GM of the Houston Rockets at that time.
The Rockets are the single biggest NBA team in China because Yao Ming played there until the CCP's overuse of him made him retire before his body completely fell apart.
If Dell Demps had said as much while he was Pels' GM, the response would have been "Who?" because Demps was a non-entity outside of New Orleans unless he was giving the finger to the Lakers.

What more do people need to see that the timing with the China virus from the Wuhan lab came exactly one year to before the 2020 election. This was specifically caused to hurt Trump and get him out of office.
