Showing Marylanders the proper way to cook crab!

I’m from BR and in Maryland for the military. All my local friends steam crabs. I’m showing them a Louisiana crab boil. Problem is that I’ve never done one.
I got my crawfish boil down to a science. What is different about crabs?
I’ve seen that you don’t drop them in the pot hot. Do you just put them in before you boil?
I’ve also seen that you can’t really overcook. But just put them for 10 mins at a boil?
Thanks!

Season roughly the same as crawfish.
You want to avoid them shedding legs and claws. Two ways: put them in the water then bring it to boil. I don’t like this if I’m putting in vegetables and stuff, throws it all off. Other way is to ice them down. For 10-15 minutes. I prefer that.
Boil 12 minutes and soak for at least 20.

For Crabs, I usually put in all the seasoning and bring to a rolling boil. Add crabs and bring back to a boil and boil for 10 min. I cut the fire and drop two frozen water jugs in to cool it down. I soak for 30 min. That's it.

Rouses Boiled Crab Recipe
This recipe from Rouses works. It uses Zatarain’s. Nowadays, it seems like everybody makes a crab boil mix, but I guess you may be able to get Zatarain’s up there.
If you've boiled crawfish before, it's not a whole lot different.

Hmmm....
I love the steamed crabs. Generally they don't get all soggy and water laden. They're cooking with Old Bay or something similar.
