re: Muffuletta King Cake
Posted by Lambdatiger1989 on 1/16/26 at 7:34 am to NatalbanyTigerFan
While this looks delicious, and I would eat the hell out of it, It is really not a king cake. All these "king cakes" coming out are getting a bit ridiculous. It's just a Muffuletta shaped in an oval. There are sushi king cakes, boudin king cakes, eclair king cakes, and now apparently a Muffuletta king cake. Who were the guys about 10 years back that did a king cake parody videos? They created all kinds of crazy concoctions and i think Muffuletta was one of them.
ETA: Someone posted it below! Larry Ragusa. It was 15 years ago. Here it is for your viewing pleasure Larry Ragusa King Cakes the OG Muffuletta King Cake

It wasn't good last year either. Guess they are just throwing it out there in hopes to sell it on the name.

According to their website, there are none within 50 miles of NOLA. Where do you get them?
Replacement for Little Sizzler Sausages
Posted by Lambdatiger1989 on 12/31/25 at 8:11 am
Hormel used to make Little Sizzlers. I used them in my cabbage for New Year's Day. I have been in a rut the past three years since they have been gone. I've tried a bunch of different replacements, but none fit the bill. Anyone know of anything similar in the NOLA area?

Just ate there a week ago. I had the Gumbo YaYa and the Bbq Shrimp. It was outstanding. Although, I was still a bit hungry

I know plenty of women down the bayou who talk just like that. Aggravating, maybe. Fake, I don't think so.

We've been several times before shows. Food has always been good. Order the cauliflower app if they have it on the menu. Drink menu is pretty good as well.

Acadian Seafood that was out by Jubans was pretty good. I worked there when Marco owned it, and once Doc took it over. Those little ladies from Laos knew how to cook up some pretty tasty seafood back in the day.

re: The Annual “Who else is up smoking the bird?”

It’s a green sugar cane stalk. I buy it at Ideal Market. I cut it into small chunks and use it just like wood chunks.

re: NOLA restaurants near Hotel Tonnelle

The street car is right outside your hotel and has a pretty good run to restaurant areas. I would take it to the Riverbend area, and get a reservation at Brigtsens for date night. Lebanon cafe is kid friendly and the food is really good. There is also Vincent's on St Charles. Closer to your hotel, you could try Atchafalaya for brunch. Magazine St. is just an Uber away and has a million great places. Osteria Lupo and Le Petit Grocery come to mind if you do that.

There are two locations. One in Metairie by Lakeside Mall, and then one in the old Hillbilly location. The one in the old hillbilly location is light years better. Not sure why, just is. Better food, and much better service.

I bartended there in the 90's. Folks were really old back then. Just like any other country club if you ask me. Overpriced everything for meh quality.
