Good morning, Travel Board!

We are planning two trips for 2022. One of them will be a several day trip to San Diego, CA sometime around the Easter break. It'll be me and my wife, plus our three kids - ages 8, 12 and 15 at the time of travel.

I've been to the city a few times but always with a work conference so there's not been a ton of time to explore.

Some things we know we'd put on a list to explore:
- USS Midway
- Petco Park for a Padres game (they are in town the week we are going)
- San Diego Zoo
- Sea World
- Beaches

We are looking for ideas of how to spend our time - experiences, restaurants to try, etc. Especially anything we should book in advance - boating trips, tours, etc.

Also, we are looking to book a nicer resort for the stay - preferably something where we can have a few bedroom suite or adjoining rooms (a week in a hotel room with everyone in one place gets a little old). That way if we want to just stay on property for pieces of the trip there are still things to do - pool, beach, spa, restaurants, etc.

Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated!!

Old town has great Mexican food , walk around and you'll find something you like . Several outside squares with bands and food venues . Stayed in little Italy , ate at bencotto . Great food . Bolt brewery was awesome and they love guest from Louisiana .

Can take a water taxi to Coronado or drive there
The beach by the Hotel Del Coronado is open to anyone even if you don't stay there and you can also eat at the hotel and have access to some of the areas

Cabrillo National Monument is awesome views back to San Diego and out towards Pacific - kids will love it and take them down to the tide pools as well, my kid love it around that age

We did a tour that hit a bunch of neat places from San Diego to La Jolla and this is a description

The first major stop on the La Jolla and Torrey Pines coast tour San Diego is at Torrey Pines Golf Course where the PGA tour holds the Farmers Insurance Golf Tournament each year. At this stop, visitors are welcome to browse the Pro Shop and take a look at the US Open trophy. Sport fans will also appreciate nearby Gliderpoint, where para-gliders jump from the local 300-foot cliffs and fly above Black's Beach. The second stop on the La Jolla and Torrey Pines coast tour San Diego is at La Jolla, which is where impressive multimillion dollar homes are located along with restaurants and boutiques. La Jolla is also home to various wildlife including seals, sea lions and pelicans. Sightseers are free to wander La Jolla on their own or to follow the tour guide and learn about the local animal life and history of the community. The final stop on the La Jolla and Torrey Pines coastal tour is at Mount Soledad where the famous Latin cross sits on top of the mountain. Guests will learn about the controversial history of the cross monument and take in scenic views of the mountains and Pacific Ocean.

San Diego is an amazing place. Last time we went we stayed in La Jolla in an Airbnb in a area called La Jolla Farms. It's gotta be some of the nicest coastal homes in the country. It only about 1/2 hour at most to Pacific beach &D downtown and you can go north up the coast to Oceanside as well.

La Jolla AirBnb

Ck out the paraglider in this one. The rental place is right there

We booked an Airbnb in Mission Beach. Right now we are doing the usual Sea World, San Diego Zoo and beach stuff.

If you see a food truck get a Fish Taco. You'll thank me later!

La Jolla Tide pools are nice
Old Town
Sunset Cliffs
Balboa Park
Lego Land if you have young kids but Sea World/Zoo are much better

Safari Park (formerly Wild Animal Park) was awesome back in the day. My family and friends all preferred it to the zoo.

Hit one of the hundreds of taco shops (Albertos, Rigibertos, Rojelios, etc.) and get a carne asada burrito.
