We have talking about getting a room at the GWL, and of course I had no idea how insane the prices were. Basically for a family suite, for one night $750. I am sure the kids would have fun, but can think of way better things for them to do with that money.

First, sign up for their email marketing. Within a week, they'll be sending you half off coupons. We did not know this, and paid full price our first round.

I live in Houston and know lots of folks that have taken their kids for a fun Christmas weekend. A lot of them go Sunday and Monday nights because the pricing is much better than the weekend. I know there is also some kind of activity pass they buy that allows them to do a certain number of things. Their kids all seem to have loved it. I'm sure there are plenty other things you could take them to do, for example, in Houston, you could do Zoo Lights, Moody Gardens, a movie, plus other random festivals, shows, concerts, etc. But you'd have to pay separately for many of those and they wouldn't be all conveniently located in the same place.

So it's kind of a choice between going somewhere and doing some fun things, some cheap, some pricy, but you get a hotel and they are all over the place or you spend more, but it's all in one place.

Yes, sign up for the discounts. Still more than it’s worth to me but my kids had fun when we went a couple of years ago. I hate water parks but had fun walking around with the oldest doing the magiquest thing.

What's included in the $750/night? Just lodging? How many kids do you have?

2 kids. From what I understand is we get full access to the water park for 24 hrs. Access to the game room and a few special events access.
