If American deaths ended at 9-11... bunch of misdirected outrage and half truths lead to thousands more dying. Can't figure where that scene could tie in here

President Elect Trump has successfully run a large and complicated business. He must be able to find good people, motivate them, incent them and manage them.

That will help him a lot when he takes up the reins of government.

Um, I'm a space fan, but you think overturning the two party system to elect an outsider like Trump is bigger than a vehicular explosion?

2007 - Virginia Tech shooting
2012 - Sandy Hook shooting
2013 - Boston Marathon bombing

And aside from the families that were affected, what changed here?

2008 - Barack Obama is elected president.

Debatable, but I don't think so.

quote:

2015 - Gay Marriage being legalized nationally.

This has not affected a single person's day to day life. Yes, its good that it happened, but very insignificant compared to what Trump represents and what he's proposing.

9/11 was an attack on our country. What happened last night was a warning shot to our enemies.

They melting worse than whites did about Obama

I didn't melt over Obama. Actually, I was glad when he won, so blacks would quit blames white people for everything wrong with America. Without the "white" vote Obama doesn't even sniff the White House.

Yet things got worse because Obama has thin skin and an agenda. He is the worst President in the history of America, but because he's the first "black" president, history will be kind to him.

Just significant in general.

I think Trump's election is more significant than Obama's. Trump will be remembered for a long, long time, while I really think Obama will be an insignificant footnote in history.

Obama was gridlock because he got to agressive. Hopefully Trump learns from that. First Black President is still a big deal

It's ok. They really aren't used to winning.

Yeah but this is the most significant thing in a positive way.

But 300 years from now when we're pretty much just a blend of races and cultures, Obama isn't going to be anything out of the norm. Just "oh first non-white guy" when people look through the history books. People aren't remembered in history for how they look or their background, they are remembered for their ideas and actions. And Trump, holy shite he has potential in this department.

Name it then.

Recession, for starters.

I'd probably say the Iraq War as well.

Both set the foundation for the 2008, 2012, and 2016 elections.

The Iraq War I think is the only viable answer to my question due to the shitstorm that ensued after it. The recession was pretty temporary and I don't think had very lasting effects on the world.

I'd argue the Recession was even more important for a lot of reasons. That started a sharp divide in wealth growth, economic direction, demographic trends, etc., etc. That was a major turning point for this country in a lot of ways and set the table for both Obama and Trump.

It also had sharp effects overseas that are still manifest (and growing, in some instances).

You're right in a way, but it hasn't caused a crisis of the Arab Spring, ISIS, and Europe falling apart. No one is going to remember the recession years from now, but people will remember when Arabs started migrating to Europe.

Well in the OP, it is one person, which again is not "people."
Not disputing that its an absurd comment (because it is), just that it isn't people.
