The Saints D and Pats D both scored a penalty this week, by way of the opposing QBs committing a penalty in the end zone. Swatting a ball through the back of the end zone is considered a penalty, resulting in a safety. Yahoo, NFL.com, etc are all awarded points for a safety to those DSTs... except ESPN. ESPN took a while to award the points to the Saints, but eventually did. Last night they awarded points to the Pats, but then took them away bc the safety was “due to penalty”

Then this crap happened. People are obnoxious on twitter

And ESPN ended up awarding the points for the safety

This issue may not be resolved yet, as they definitely had some inconsistency. The NFL may also get involved by way of stat correction. For now, a safety by penalty is not awarded as a safety earned for any player on the DST, which is how ESPN does their DST scoring. No DST player being awarded a safety may mean no safety scored
