also once league is complete i'll get a mass email to everyone and we'll decide rules and what not from there. it's already been decided that tigerinstaug and i will be co-commissioners. keep checking first post for details. i cant wait for football season and to pwn all you lil sissies

Just a question? How long until a brother loses the "newcomer" label? I have posted on Saints Talk since January 2008. I'm not as regular as some of you fellas, but shite, it's been 2 years. I don't really post much during the offseason, but i'll lurk around and try to get info and updates all day everyday. Thanks for letting me join, but you guys just fricked up. I'm gonna run this league.
Also, to the poster who said that 20 yards per point undervalues RBs, I disagree, but I'll play in whatever format everyone decides on.

espn just determines random draft order prior to a live draft. My league last year was something very similar to this (I'll include explanations as to why we did things.
Roster
qb
wr/rb
wr/rb
wr/te

team defense
We did this in a 12 team league to basically imitate a real football team's amount of skilled position players. In a 12 team league this gives you more freedom to build the type of team you honestly feel gives you the best chance to win. Teams very rarely play with more than 2 rbs in the game in the nfl, but will play any other variable of skilled position players...up to 5 wrs. Pro football has evolved into more of a passing game with less every down backs since fantasy football became really popular so this gives you options.
Scoring
1) no negative points- by committing turnovers your team is fricking you out of points anyway
2) base yardage scoring off of common milestones. In the NFL 100 yd receiving or rushing games and 300 yd passing games are the general milestones in terms of yardage...therefore you get a little extra when you hit that milestone.
qb-30 yds per point (300 yards =10 points) 2+ bonus when reaching this milestone=12 points (or equivalent to 2 tds)
rb/wr 10 yds per point (100 yards=10 points) +2 bonus when reaching this milestone = 12 points (or equivalent to 2 tds)
you keep accumulating points after the milestone every 30/10 yards afterwards but no more bonuses
return yards (individuals) 1 point every 25 yards...gives a nice bonus for some lesser receivers/rbs
ALL touchdowns= 6 points...awarding 4 points for a qb is just weird to me...why should you penalize the qb for making the throw.
each reception=.25 points (so you dont overvalue PPR but they still add up nicely)
ALL FG'S worth 3 points...its retarded that kickers can dominate a week.
Defense
1 pt sack
2 points turnover
6 points td
2 points blocked kick
shutout=12 points
1-6=8 points
7-13=6
14-17=4
18-20=2
