I just want y'all to know I'm at Chimes with someone who has no clue about this thread... And she just ordered an extra side of gravy. LOL.

Love it.

BTW, was it ever answered if you could get extra gravy for an up-charge? Or was it like the Soup Nazi, and no was no?

I thought pastime was for downtown workers to day drink?? I don't think alcoholics care about food quality.

Of course I...I'm sure some of them care about food.

Definitely seems like the kinda place where regulars finish off a pack of Marlboro reds and a sixer of Milwaukee's Best before showing up for lunch.

While it attracts a lot of that, the place definitely boasts that they have the best pizza and roast beef poboy in town.. Hence the owner's meltdown.

If they were just a place for smoky old men to day drink, they wouldn't have cared about this thread.

I get being defensive, as a human, I really do. But as a restaurant owner, you have to learn to eat humble pie. Look, I worked at the original Chimes back in 2000-2002, and I saw plenty of people attempting to "get a free meal". The managers and owners weren't stupid, and told the appropriate patrons "we don't need your business" as they pointed to a full dining room. However, when there was a completely legitimate complaint (which happens in any industry) they handled the customers with understanding. Pastime has shown that they are a dinosaur. It isn't about principles, or having to submit, it's about fixing things that are wrong, outdated or just asinine. These people wanted to enjoy a night out, and they didn't, because of his establishment. They paid their money, and it is his job to try and make sure the people who keep him in business are happy, to a reasonable degree. The "you kids better stay off my lawn" mentality is gonna kill him once all of the old timers die off.

Tiny, 5'0 gymnast, bubbly, dark hair, probably didn't hang out with the "in crown" because I didn't drink or do drugs. Worked retail for first year, server 2nd, only mornings. Initials LH.

I might have been doing door/bar.
Initials are BR.

Wasn't old enough to drink there then.

I was holding handstands in my living room today. You know, just to see if I still could.

I saw this thread had went to 10 pages and wondered wtf was going on for Pastime to deserve 10 pages. Well this thread did not disappoint.

I have never been to Pastime, even tho I drive by it 5x a day. Thanks everyone for the entertainment tonight.

Poor baby...come back to Pukeston so you can get some "real" service and all the gravy you little heart desires. God forbid a single calorie go to waste in Fat-arse Ville.

It's just a lot of non-sense trash talk from dumb asses who probably haven't even been to the restaurant. I've been going there for almost 30 years, and before that, my dad and his friends were customers. I live in the "Pukeston" metro area, and when I'm town (usually for ball games) I do my best to stop for a bite, extra gravy requests notwithstanding. The food has ALWAYS been excellent, and the service is fantastic for the type of place it is. (counter order) Do yourself a favor and try a Pastime pizza the next time you're in town.
The idiot-bashing the restaurant is getting is un-deserved, and not justified so I thought I'd put my two cents in.
