I just bought a six. Nice creamy head. It has a touch of spice on the tongue (coriander maybe?) and just a wisp of citrus on the finish. I feel like I am sitting at an outdore cafe in the Grand Place.

This could be their best effort.

If you don't like this beer, you don't like wit beers.

It is a solid wit.

For all the Houston peeps, I found it at Central Market.

Go round up a bottle of St Bernardus wit, try that and get back to me.

No sir. Not even close.

But I'm drinking one now, and it's not nearly as bad as people make it out to be.

It's a bit too bitter for the style, in my opinion, and lacks depth/complexity of flavor, but it's not bad. It's alright... that's about it.

Well that's not even a fair comparison.

It's a Blue Moon ripoff w/ a more overbearing citrus flavor. Blue Moon meets Tang, perhaps.

Humble opinion, of course.

Apparently, the orange flavoring is made by a chemical plant in Illinois. If true, I find that a bit odd.

I fancy myself a beer Connoisseur, as I have been around the World trying different beers (both at the chimes and In real life ). Maybe I'm just a drunk, who knows.
IMHO, I think the Satsuma was a good first try. It reminds me of a weak Shocktop. The head has a promising flavor that the body doesn't deliver. The finish is also a bit strong coming from a light body. It is a good beer, but it left me wanting more. My advice to Abita (I'm not a doctor---But I'll take a look) is to tone down the finish or thicken up the body.

I will definately buy another sixer this summer, but I still much prefer the Strawberry.

It's too spicy and citrusy in my opinion. It lingers around too much. I definitely prefer the strawberry to this beer. The strawberry tastes like a good lager with a clean strawberry finish that is not overpowering.

I want my beer to taste like beer.

I had the same thought. I didn't care for the Satsuma at all, as much as I wanted to.

It's not a bad beer, I was just rooting for the home state brewery to do a little better.

Yea, I tried it yesterday.
If offered to me, I'll probably drink it, but I wont go out of my way looking for it.
I just think they need to work out a few kinks. Every new season brings a new beer.

OK, finally got some Satsuma Wit this weekend and I love Abita beer but this stuff is not good.

I like Wit beer, I like Strawberry Harvest but the spice, be it coriander or whatever it is, is not good.

I would have rathered just have the Wit with a touch of Satsuma flavor.....leave the spice out of it. IMO, it's close to undrinkable and does not get better the more you have.
