I had some more tonight while watching the game. The host insisted that I try it with a slice of lemon, even though fruiting the beer isn't really my style.

I must say though... a billion times better. They needed more natural lemon flavor and less bitter satsuma rind flavor to it from the beginning.

I had some at The Rusty Nail in NOLA... Didn't think it was to bad. I have had better, but I like the fact that it isn't too over powering. But some of these people saying Blue Moon is better????? Blue Moon just doesn't do it for me.

If given the choice I'm not drinking Blue Moon either. But Blue Moon doesn't have that spice flavor either.....the Satsuma tastes like it was watermelon rind in it or something.

IMO, it's damned near undrinkable but if you do drink it, get that shite as cold as you can without freezing it.

I tried it over the weekend - I thought it was pretty good - of course it was beer #5, so my taste buds may have been a little off. I'll try it again as beer #1 another day.

I'm pretty sure the spice you're picking up is coriander and it's commonly a prominent component of witbiers, including Abita Satsuma and Blue Moon.

I like wit's. I brew wit's myself and not all have coriander or any spice. Most just use a citrus hop that gives it some lemon or orange flavors.

The Abita Satsuma is very bitter and just not good IMO. I had women at our house who were turning up their noses at this stuff.
