They put on a good show.

It’s not quite a Whiskey Myers show…. But they have a good time. I’d go see them again.
Been in a minute since I’ve posted in here…. But, I need some recs. I have a VPI Nomad, Vandys, a quad vena integrated and a BS Node. Thanks to Ol Marco…

I have an understanding of most of this stuff, but I haven’t kept up with things the last couple of years due to, well life.

The boy will be heading off to college and I was trying to think of something to get him as a graduation present. I’d kill him if he lost a nice watch I got him. fricker is already on his 2nd Kershaw Leek in the last year.

Any recs on a little setup for his dorm? I was thinking something along the lines of either a set of active bookshelf speakers with maybe WiFi to stream and or a pair of bookshelf with maybe a small integrated of sorts.

Trying to keep it somewhat budgeted, as I don’t want to drop a ton and it get fricked up in some shape or form. Maybe around the $500ish area, would prefer less if possible. Have to get him a new computer too.

I’ll end up handing down my Nomad to him and upgrading a tad on my TT at some point.

I’ve looked at stuff, I just don’t have a clue on this side of things. Appreciate it!
I fry the frick out of the heads in the pot before deglazing. Basically, like browning some meat in the bottom of the pot.

I’ll throw some Prudhommes seafood magic, old bay or whatever seafood type seasoning on them.

I like making a batch in the instant pot…. Outside.
White Pillars and Half Shell should not be mentioned in the same breath…

Half Shell is Sysco shite. White Pillars is damn good.

I’ve had some good meals at 32 in the IP, it’s on the roof. BR Prime is pretty legit.

Ocean Springs has several cool joints.
Blue Dog Bistro is a good brunch spot. You can hit Murky Waters for bbq. Phonecia is good too. Mosaic can be fun.

My buddy said Siren Social is pretty good too. It’s in Gulfport though.
Maxfli makes a ball that competes with the upper end balls in their Tour lineup.
I use the Tour X. It’s $40.

It’s been rated the last few years as one of the best balls by mygolfspy. They have a Tour X, Tour and Tour S.

If you can find the Kirkland v3.5, it’s probably worth a shot at its price point. The Costco here in BR still doesn’t have the 3.5, they only have the 3.0 which is shite. It’s like $24 or $27 for 2 dozen.

But, use the mygolfspy ball test that he linked. It gives ratings for high, medium and low swing speeds.
Meiomi is shite. Caymus is going the same way. Just crowd pleasers for people who want sweet fruit bombs.

There’s a guy on Instagram I ran across called “the people’s somm”. He shits on Meiomi like they owe him rent.

He has a couple of videos of him trying to recreate Meiomi Pinot with sugar and shitty wine.

I will add that I’ve had the Caymus Zin a good bit, but you have to get that through the wine club. It’s pretty good, at least the last couple I’ve had at the duck camp were tasty.

I’m a big fan of the Venge and Ridge stuff. Venge Silencio and Signal Fire, along with the Ridge Lytton Springs are what I usually will bring to a party.
If you want a blend, get Venge Scout. It’s better than Prisoner.
En Route Pinot is damn good for that price point.

Russian River Valley is a great area for Pinot, along with Willamette Valley in Oregon.

Belle Glos has good ones in that price point. You can maybe find Merry Edwards or Gary Farrell in and around that range as well.

The Meater Pro is nice, but it’s Bluetooth. It probably has a better app.

The RFX is a radio signal, no Bluetooth issues.

Both are good to 1000deg.

Yeh, that’s the best part about the RFX. Also, they’ve tested those probes inside of a Dutch oven that’s inside of a smoker and you never lose signal.

If I didn’t already have a 4 probe smoke, I’d have the RFX.

If you just want a thermometer to check steaks, chicken etc.

Thermoworks Thermapen

If you want something to keep the temps on long cooks, like on a smoker or in the oven.

Thermoworks Smoke

If you want a true wireless thermometer that has an app for your phone.

Thermoworks RFX
Uses a radio signal, not Bluetooth. You can’t block the signal.

I gave you 3 because I wasn’t sure exactly what you meant my cordless.

I have the Thermapen and the smoke. I’ve used the RFX as well.
Man…. I think if they just put forth a little effort. They don’t have to do semi-private level stuff.

I mean…. Use a frickin aerator a couple times a year on the tee boxes and fairways, throw some sand. That’s basic shite. Close 2 mondays a month to get shite done? Charge $10-$20 more a round?

I say that understanding that the process entails a little more than an aerator and sand…. But I don’t think it’s a out of the question to have that at the “premier” public course in BR.

People are going to bitch no matter what. You have to do what you need to do to put forth a good product or you’re going to end up with SM being Webb and people wearing blue jeans, t shirts and discarding lung darts on greens. Of which I saw at least 7-8 on the greens at Webb.

Never heard my guy referred to as the crawfish troll. That’s good stuff.

He’s a good dude. I think he is about $5-$6 a lb right now. He does have graded as well, which I think we’re $6. We got a sack last weekend, nice crawfish.

There is always Christian Bros and that dude connected to the side of the gas station on I think Germantown Rd/airline. My buddy gets from him sometimes.

They need to charge $5-$10 to hold a time, it can go against your green fees. I think charging something to hold a tee time will stop alot of that behavior. If you can't beat em, join em.. I guess I'm going to have to start booking a SAT and SUN AM tee time every weekend just in case I want to use it.

What you do is…. You charge for the damn tee time if they no show. If you want to hold a tee time 2 weeks out you put down a CC. If you no show, whoever has the CC down gets charged 50% of the 4somes tee times. SM only needs 48hrs to get that booked, if not only 24. To have a 4some or 2 no show on a Saturday and you not fill it is ridiculous.

shite, we do stay and plays in Biloxi a couple times a year. You can’t no show or not cancel. I think you have around 72hrs in advance or there is a fee that everyone will get charged if you can’t make it. Hell, one year a hurricane was coming up the shoot. I called the week of and was like…. We don’t want to cancel, but I mean there’s this whole hurricane deal. Ha

You can’t frick the course b/c you’re an a-hole or something came up and you can’t make the tee time. Also, the leadership can’t be fricking lazy and miss prime time tee times.

To piggy back off of an earlier post. The point of them closing one day and having them charge more is what I think a lot of people are okay with. If I drive to Copper to get on, I’ll have to pay $80 and drive to Copper. If I get invited to UClub, I have to drive out there and pay essentially $100. I drive by SM to go to both courses and pay more to play those courses. I’d pay $80 if it were in better shape or could get on before noon and not drive 35 minutes to an hour. Same could be said for the Island and Carter.
In my experience all the ones we’ve checked with will tell you that you can’t draft there on the premises. Now, it’s up to you how you handle that.

You can reach out to The Blind Tiger in Biloxi. They have a little side room that’s perfect for a draft. We have done a couple there. It’s closed off from the rest of restaurant.

I putted on one green. The ball was about 6” from the hole going in and it took a left turn. I walked up and apparently somebody threw a dart and there was a divot there. I couldn’t see it because it was mud/soil.

I fixed it though…. So you’re welcome.

re: Webb park greens

Played out there on Saturday. Some of the greens have some grass coming in, some more than others. Still, most of the greens are sand and mud/soil. Not to mention the poa coming up.

That being said, they have a 5some that went out at about 10-10:15 that wrecked the entire fricking course with all 5 of them doing their best Cantlay impressions. The Marshall went out a couple of times to them because of complaints.

The plus of it being slow as frick…. Was I got to play fix the divot on all of the greens. It’s tough enough to put without divots out there…
St Aloysius is just down the road from there. St George isn’t too much further.
