I have never eaten a RB poboy at Acme. What are the other 2 places cause I'd love to try them out. I love me a RB poboy.

Dempseys and I believe Pocorellos.. But I have heard they made the Manda switch but havent been in a while so dont know. Opie may be able to answer if they make their own as well. There may be a few others in BR I know Roccos used to make their own but went to the darkside as well. But for the most part in BR people seem to slice up the manda's and heat it up.

The 10 Napkin Roast Beef po-boy at Acme is money.
Growing up on po-boys back in NOLA, my first trip to Acme was great, was a nice feeling to be reminded of home. If there's a better roast beef po-boy in BR, I haven't had it yet.
Pocorello's makes a nice meatball po-boy.

Manda rb should be banned from br poboy purveyors. it's laziness that creates a crappy product.

The Pastime used to make a real roast beef poboy.
It's been several years since I've had one there, though.

I am well aware that July isn't prime oyster season, but like I said, I was comparing to other places that I had been to within the past 2 weeks. I doubt oysters were that much better 2 weeks ago. I wouldn't say they were not as good as any other places in Baton Rouge, but I didnt think they were better so I'm not sure why I would pay more for them. At least at Dragos you get what you pay for as far as raw oysters goes. Acme has a better fried platter IMO, though. I wish I would have tried the charbroiled but I was burnt out on them from the other places I had been recently.
Hah, that is horrible. I'm not even sure how that is possible, but while I was there I saw a bartender drop a piece of bread onto the bar counter and then put it back on. Not a big deal, I guess.

Their roast beef is terrible. I found a dirty napkin in my chargrilled oysters last time and got sick from eating there.

Has the Acme special for lunch, a Ferdi knockoff, and a pretty good one at that. An 8" poboy with roast beef (the real stuff) ham, turkey, debris, American cheese, Swiss cheese and a lot of gravy for $8.99. Pretty good deal, delicious.
My only complaint is that if they toasted the French bread it would be crunchy instead of chewy. We had a small order of onion rings that were perfect. The service was quick and our waitress was a knockout. When she brought iced tea refills my wife told her "you read my mind", its a good thing she couldn't read mine.
