You should probably just go with the cheapest. Trust me.

We'll be going with the best food and presentation. We both enjoy quality, well-prepared meals.

I don't think helping to pick out a caterer is really going to stretch me too much. We're both busy young professionals and I offered to take care of this and the band. She's welcome to fly solo on the napkin monogram design if she wants.

Thank you. Haven't booked a band yet, but we're looking at a few. I'll check into them.

I like Margo, myself.

Also, sometimes, people hire very good caterers, but don't order very good or different foods. I always wonder why someone hires an expensive caterer and then serves the obligatory fettucine station etc...

You have a little time to interview several of the caterers recommended and to discuss suggested menus and prices, etc... before making the decision. Take advantage of that especially since the food is important to your and your intended. Some of them may even have photographs of setups they've done at the location of your reception, which is nice, when available. It's also nice to know if they have worked with the florist you choose for decorating the venue or you may even want to hear their suggestions for that. You'd be surprised about what caterers can tell you about venues and florists etc...

The Neighborhood All Stars played my sister's wedding a few weeks ago and they were great. People never left the dance floor

I agree. I have no interest in paying a caterer for what one could pick up at Sam's Club and throw into a crock pot.

That's the plan. Thanks.

Same guy who said you should go with the cheapest and let the fiance handle it because you're doing too much as the guy. Enough said.

Are you paying for it? Or are her parents?

Are you going to sit in the room with the food eating and staring at the presentation the whole time?

What the hell difference does that make? It's pretty obvious by his post that he and his fiance are planning it and know what they can spend regardless of who's paying.

The food is in the same room as everything else at most receptions I've attended so the bride and groom do see the food and that presentation. I also happen to care about providing good food, presented well, to my guests. That's just me, though. Politiceaux might have other reasons. Could just be good taste.

Uh, if he cares a lot about food and his peers know it, he probably wants to serve them something he is proud of. I absolutely hate most wedding food I've had because it's stupid crap like fettucini and a ham carving station.

All of my friends and family know that I love food and I think it would reflect pretty silly on my part to serve food I hate and that's cheapo.

Yes we all know you post this almost every time you post.

Your friends and family don't give a shite about the food at your wedding.

It's just nice to go cheap for your in laws sake. They already have to chunk out a fortune. You barely eat your own food and no one remembers what food you had. They remember the band and the dance floor.

I have only been to one wedding where everything was in the same room.

If food is more important to you than some of the other stupid shite, you don't have to "go cheap"

I remember food at weddings, and when I ask people how weddings were, they often make remarks on the food.

If you must know, her parents, my parents, she and I are all contributing. I'm not sure what that has to do with anything. We are all contributing a set amount. Would you like a rough percentage breakdown?

The reception will be in the Senate Ballroom at the Old State Capitol. It will primarily be all held in one large room. We may have some bars in the rotunda as well as a few tables for those who want to be further from the band. I won't be staring at the food the whole time, I imagine that I'll be thankful for my good fortunes and gazing at my gorgeous new wife.

As to your last point, yes, a lot of my friends and family do care about food. As do I. I've had friends and family with both great and bad food that was still talked about years later. That's not the issue, however. The issue is that serving good food to our guests happens to be important to us.

We're going to be putting a good amount of effort into having a great band and already have a fantastic venue, so those bases are covered.

Sounds like y'all already have your mind made up to spend money. I don't have one friend who would ever comment about the food at the wedding.

The band y'all should get is the neighborhood all stars, but I bet y'all end up with after 8.
