This has been one of my favorite beers this summer. I think they did a great job with it.

why can't Louisiana get a decent microbrew?

For the longest time, you'd hear the line "we're tailoring it to the local tastes."

Which for too long in Louisiana has meant, we're making the closest facsimile of Bud Light or Miller Lite we can, while still being a microbrew.

That being said, I think a lot of this is changing, and I've run across some pretty good beer from La. of late.

I like the Heinerbrau stuff, most of the NOLA stuff, and was pleasantly surprised with Abita's SOS (although I note the mixed reviews in the earlier thread about this.)

Perhaps. The beers I like that I'm referring to, are for the most part a bit "lighter" in style, but they seem to at least have a bit more substance, while still being so.

I tasted this along with the Bouchanee or whatever at the beer event in Lafayette a few weeks ago. I didn't care for either beer and the guy pouring was a tool more interested in talking to his friends than handing out samples. I wouldn't buy this and I wouldn't drink it if someone gave it to me.

Not really the "making" of the beer, but moreso the enjoyment of it. Some beers are much better suited for drinking in colder weather.

different types of beer ferment better at different tempratures but I would guess all microbrews have controlled temprature ferment tanks

The LA-31 beer is pretty damn good. I drink lots of different beers and this is a very flavorful beer. Go drink your budlight and and leave the better beers for people who like real beer.

Just buy imported beer for the same price. People in America do not know how to brew beer.

Historically yes. The great beer making countries are all in the northern climes where barley was grown but grapes did not do well. So they made alcohol w/ what they had....barley. And fermenting of beers is best around 60-70 degrees so most beer was made in the summer and stockpiled for the winter. Hence Octoberfest resulted as a way to drink the "old" beer that was left from last year since the "new" beer had just been bottled. These days, with climate controlled buildings, where beer is made is less important....although the local water still impacts the final taste.

Is this from a Brewing Company in BR? I don't know the name of the brewhouse itself, but info was relayed to me that they had someone brewing in BR now. Although the first beer wasn't that great, sorry no name. I tried the LA-31 last week and it was decent, not great.

That's going to be Tin Roof Brewing... I don't think it's quite out yet.

Thanks for the info

My brother said he tried some at a tasting a few weeks ago in Hammond. He said it wasn't great, but for just starting out it was worth a try.
