I hope you don't mind driving to Scott, LA and going to Don's.

Maybe a couple of hours out of the way, but it's the best place for boudin.

I've been upset w/ don's too many times to get their regular. I keep getting chunks of fat, sometimes big square pieces meant for cracklin.

Where they redeem themseves is with the seafood boudin. I rarely like seafood boudin enough to choose it over traditional, but it is great here.

awesome.. another which boudin is best thread. few answered his question though.

the OP did ask about new orleans area.

i have had couchon's and not a big fan.

best and closest to new orleans that i have had are in BR. poche's, ronnies, or jerry lee's. all will do just fine.

not new orleans, but if you found some you enjoyed in orange beach, I'm sure you'll enjoy cochon's

Carl and Cory Broussard raised in Maurice, Louisiana ran a meat shop in Louisiana. They went to the beach one summer and liked it so much they moved their whole operation to Pensacola, FL. I think that gives their boudin a little more credibility but you are right that I may just think it is good because I have never had any that is great. We shall see everyone has given me some good recommendations and appreciate it. Just kidding about Alabama in the championship game I really would rather watch LSU but my wife is an Alabama fan.

Probably not.. But Im not really sure. I know the owners are related to the Best Stop owners. So you see some simularity between recipes although I find the reg boudin to be slightly more salty at Ronnies. The smoked boudin is almost exact though which is good. Ronnies Boudin Balls are my favorite though.

You're not going to find anything too good in New Orleans. Get on I-10 West, drive for a couple of hours and take the Scott Exit and either go to Don's or Best Stop.

Go to boudinlink.com and get some stuff shipped from some of/one of the places thrown out on here. There's really nothing remotely comparable in nola.

I like Billys and Best Stop in Scott the best.

I've never eaten any around the NOLA area though. Just BR/Lafayette

I had never gotten any from Best Stop (although obviously had heard about it for years) until I was driving through on my way to Houston and had to pick some up. Now I feel like I've never had real boudin before.
