Not really a big sushi connoisseur, but I have always been content with Koi right off of campus.

I enjoyed Koi whenever I went there. First sushi place in BR where I've seen a non-Asian making rolls.

The guy did a good job, but prejudice reared its ugly head for just a moment when I first sat down

Wahada is my favorite for price and connivence. I have been to Waka and Rock-n-Sake twice and it was solid both times. My gf is a fan of Koto. Our least favorite is Hello Sushi.

Very overpriced, but I've never thought anything was bad.

Worst sushi ever. You want room temp sushi that looks/tastes like the ingredients came from King Buffetts leftovers then go there...it's absolutely horrible...

I am going to go ahead and chime in with unpopular opinions. J.C. Komodo's on Sherwood Forest and Tokyo Cafe are my favorite two and I've been to them all. They are both very well run establishments. Tokyo Cafe is extremely clean and affordable, to boot.

Honorable mention: Waka House is the most interesting/unique of the bunch and the guy really puts his heart into it. He probably has the most authentic sushi around (i wouldn't know) but that doesn't necessarily make it better, imho.

Rockin Sake has very fresh fish.

i'd swear that i've read or heard that all of the sushi-grade fish in the USA has to be flash frozen. of course that doesn't mean that fish can't "taste fresh" but then again, i don't know if this is true, or how "flash freezing" effects fish.

any insights?

Based on recently trying this place for the first time, I'm changing my vote to this. It was absolutely incredible!

I have never had a bad meal at Ichiban...always dig it. I live closest to Tokyo Cafe, and get it to go all the time, their hibachi's consistently good.

I was pleasantly surprised with Sake Cafe.

I really enjoy Koi and Sushiyama, as well.

Wahada, however, has made myself and two friends very sick within 24 hours of eating there.
