Can someone tell me what the difference in brown and white shrimp from a table fare perspective? I know whites are generally larger and someone told me recently that browns are a little sweeter. Had never heard that.

Curious if one type is better for freezing or if they are used differently?

Brown shrimp, thanks to an iodine-rich diet, have a strong flavor that goes great with robust dishes like gumbo and jambalaya. White shrimp have a more mild flavor with notes of natural sweetness because they're found in areas with less salinity, like brackish estuaries and bayous.

We use to have Shrimp traps set in the Mississippi River, on the West Bank, across from LSU.

All shrimp contain iodine.

I know they do but I don't react to shrimp.

Conch? I have a strong reaction to the iodine in conch.

It's a weird shellfish allergy I have. I'm only affected by conch.
