Forgot the name of the vendor at Lafitte Seafood festival this year but they were bad, didn't make me sick but tasted no butter, no garlic, cheap shredded parmesean that wasn't melted, cold oyster and a mound of fake tasting bacon bits. Not to mention they weren't even cooked in the shell.
Fair. Don’t think I would trust a festival oyster. But a restaurant oyster?
I’m not exactly a chef, and I can do that shite half drunk next to the pool. A restaurant has zero excuse

Get away from the gulf coast and you find some pretty shitty versions.

has anyone ever had a bad chargrilled oyster that didn’t literally make them ill?
I’ve had a few that I spit out immediately.

Went to Mike Andersons on a Thursday night and they were amazing.
Went to Parrains the following Sunday for brunch and they were meh.
FWIW

The worst I have ever had was Shaggy’s in Pass Christian, MS. Luke warm oyster with a spoon full of Parmesan cheese. Almost puked and never been back.

No, so it makes the nola suggestions even more absurd.

Oh man, I disagree. If you like the topping to be hearty for dipping, you for sure notice a difference.
I've been to places where they're less "thick" (for lack of better word).. mostly just clarified butter. Have also them in some places where they're almost dry because they're not topped with much.
I like them really overfilled with butter, garlic, cheese, etc. so I can dip bread like a complete fatass.

The BR Drago’s is terrible atmosphere. Parrains and Acme are much better. Rouj Creole has good ones too. Dragos still feels like an old Blockbuster with the carpet still in place.
