Count's picture of the horrible kitchen above is not so different from the real before pics. Yikes.

The remodel included the den, kitchen, breakfast nook, laundry and 1/2 bath.

*

Carpet has been ripped out in this pic, but before and after with and without carpet ... equally squalid and depressing.

The dog crate was in there temporarily, but even she refused to hang out in this depressing room.

The fireplace was a bitch to remove. The brick filled up three trash trailers (mighta coulda shoulda woulda saved some for something). It was four layers of brick thick.

With the old vinyl still in place, you can see the footprint of the cabinets here.

I we improved it!

Wow! That is an amazing transformation for sure! Great job!

What is the hardware I see at the top of your french doors?

Darla...I absolutely love those floors! Where did you get them? Do you mind sharing how much they were per SF? Also, do you like your Samsung Fridge? I'm building a new house and will be picking all those things out soon. Thanks for sharing!

A keyed door chain. The French doors lead to the sunroom, which leads to the back yard and a swimming pool. The door also has a keyed lock. One of the safety precautions from when our son was little. Could be removed now, but we just haven't done it.

Thanks! Our kitchen designer did the actual purchase and I know there isn't a local store, so she ordered them. The porcelain tiles are by Arizona Tile and they are the Nu Travertine Walnut Matte, 18x18. I see that one online place has it for $5.05 per square foot. I hope that helps.

We love the Samsung Fridge! And I unlike R2R, we also like the bottom freezer.

Sorry for the hijack Darla & Cali4

I have a 2012 Samsung SxS fridge that has been a PIA

I less than 3 yrs, already replaced 2 back freezer panels, ice maker, and digital display.
Perhaps I got a lemon as all aforementioned items have been replaced under warranty through Stine. Service technician claimed Samsung has major design engineering flaws in certain fridge models several yrs ago which have supposedly been fixed. Needless to say, I personally would be very hesitant to purchase another Samsung fridge. Others may have different experiences/opinions

Carry on, beautiful remod Mrs D

Wow. I swear your house has almost the exact same floor plan down to the built ins as the house I grew up in in Huntsville, AL. We had a back deck though, no solarium.

Love the kitchen.

I was curious because we recently bought a house with 3 sets of French doors. I was wondering if you had something there that I needed. thanks

Can you open your frig doors without having to slide the frig out?

we are about to start a new home and I offset the frig space 6" into the laundry room to give us the built in frig look but can still use a full depth style.

we are looking at a french door frig like what you have.

Hey, now! When I naively mentioned the name of a store near our subdivision in a post, I didn't realize there were only two of them in Lafayette. I thought there were enough of them so it couldn't be narrowed down!

Yes. That was taken into consideration in the planning and the fridge sticks out to accommodate opening the doors.
