I understand the complaints when you think about what you expect something with "farmhouse" in the name to taste like.

That said, I really like this batch as well. It may not exhibit the qualities the name suggests, which I guess is not a good thing, but I think it's enjoyable-tasting in some form anyway.

I agree with whoever mentioned the price though. Although I really enjoyed it, I haven't bought more since running out of what I got at GR Day because it is just steep for what it is IMO.

I was just thinking about that place (if you're where I think you are). I haven't been in a while.

So I just got home from the new World of Beer in Metairie. Let's be real -- huge get for Metry. I'll probably stop by fairly often as it's right on my way home from work. That's a huge plus for it. But I'm a little irrationally disappointed by it. According to their facebook page it's a dollar off drafts until 6 pm -- I had a Terrapin Moo HooChiato and a St. Bernardus Abt 12 for 8 and 11 bucks, respectively. Felt a little steep.

Atmosphere -- the place LOOKS pretty nice, some nice brickwork on the interior. Not overly bright and sterile. Not saturated with TVs, but there are some present behind the bar if you want to watch a game. It wasn't some huge, sterile space, there's actually some character. If they'd lose the crap music it wouldn't be bad. I honestly felt like I was in the Baton Rouge Bulldog, more or less.

Taps were pretty mediocre. 50 total, 43 are rotating, supposedly. We will see what that looks like in implementation. I felt like it wasn't as good as Midcity Bulldog, basically on a level with Uptown Bulldog. Average. One thing that bugged me was the GM tried to sell me on the exclusivity of some of their stuff -- only MooHooChiato in the state, one of 4 bars in the state that will get BCBS, etc.. Not necessary. BCBS speaks for itself, I've had it and can think of more than 4 other places that have gotten it. But really I can't complain too much, it's a solid addition for the Metry Krewe (read: me) to grab a beer or two.

ETA Also has food which will be a draw if it's decent, I imagine

Nice review Yezzy. Maybe if I get that neck tattoo I'll come join the Krewe.

FBD.

Enjoying a peaceful evening alone with my new TSwift CD and Doritos with French Onion dip.

Almost feel like I should be drinking wine to make this chick night complete.

Honestly, I think a lot of beer bars (minus Avenue) get more non-mavens than mavens. So they are just accustomed to educating people who know very little.

I certainly am far from an authority on beer, but I had to stop the guy at Chimes East the other day who couldn't provide a beer menu for me, and proceeded to ask "what style I like" and direct me towards Mecha after I specifically teased him, saying, "Don't try to sell me Tin Roof or something; not really looking for the regular local stuff".

I know when I worked at Bulldog, I never once interacted with a customer who knew more about beer than me, and you know I don't know a ton. So I had to keep in mind that 90% of my customers who "normally drink Bud Light, but I like dark beers!" aren't looking to spend however much money on BCBS because they honestly just didn't understand what made that beer special and worth it.

That said, it annoys me just as much as it annoyed you.
