Try the new Sushi place. Sakura. They have Habachi tables. Takes some of the pressure of doing all the entertaining for your date. Very nice inside and the food is awesome. Its on the corner of Essen and I-10

They opened Dec. 22 and are now celebrating their Grand Opening Month. Ads in the Advocate and the radio. The food is incredible. Upscale feel with the white linen tableclothes. Prices dont reflect it though. Cheaper than Ichiban!
Great place to bring a date or family. I will be back!
hmmmmm.....

lol.
i dont know if anyone has mentioned it, but i like pinettas for a date. it has nice low key atmosphere and reasonable prices. no distractions so be prepared to carry a solid conversation here.

If I can give you any advice -
For your first date, don't drop a lot of $$$ on her. You'll be pissed if you're like me.
The past 3 or so girlfriends I have had we've went to Sammy's for a 1st date. 1 of those was short lived, the other last 2 years and the next has been solid for 3 and a half years and we're getting married in July.
So, Sammy's gets my vote.

Depends on if the critters are watching you eat..
I would say Hibachi is a good option though I really like Toyko Cafe for Hibachi.

The first full meal I paid for my now fiancee was at canes...
I say full because I bought the table an order of Cheese Fries the night we met...

For a first date I would want something quiet where we could talk and get to know one another...I would then try and find out what foods she likes....My personal choice would be Nino's....drinks or wine to open her up and then she will tell you all about herself...by the end of the salad you will know if this date is going to be a life changer.

I think I've had more first dates than second dates in these 54 years

McDonalds... dine-in... let her order off the dollar menu (combos require a 2 date minimum)

Geez some of you spend a lot on first dates.

First date??? Do not take her to these places. I know you want to impress her and all, but come on man...you'll be dropping $50-70 at these places. Take her some place fun (Sammy's, Chelsea's, George's, Ivar's, etc..) You can get a good meal at a decent price, few beers, and have a good time.
Also...rule of thumb...I never take a girl out for dinner on a first date. Things might get weird/ackward/you might realize she sucks or thinks the same of you, etc...That is why I always go out for drinks. Besides being cheaper, if you can tell it isn't working you do not have to endure a long, sit-down meal with them.
