Anyone got a review on how Mike Andersons is these days?

We eat at the Prairieville location often, and it's always been great.

I worked at Rax in HS in BR. I broke my arm and had a full cast from shoulder to wrist. I was on the schedule for the next day and called in to let them know. I worked the take out window mostly. The manager said I was fired if I did not come in. I was like, I just compound fractured my arm and he fired me. Oh well. Still loved the food.

I went to the one near campus just a few weeks ago. It was solid, just like it has always been.

Good food and service. Onion rings, hush puppies, and a great seafood platter. I had 3 meals from that platter including the leftovers.

I always preferred them over R&K.

That big pink building in the Quarter seems like it's been sitting empty for 20+ years. I can't remember if they closed before or after Katrina

It is massive, especially for a restaurant space, like 12,000sqft

I want to say they closed in 2014 or somewhere around there.

As a kid, going to Ralph and Kacoo's was a big deal. There was so much LSU memorabilia to look at. The stuffed tiger was amazing to my 8 year old brain.
Back then, Bluebonnet seemed like it was miles outside of Baton Rouge. I remember when only Jimmy Swaggart and R and K's was out there.

I think the last time I ate there was the day before Rita hit. We lost power early due to a weak water oak down the street so we went to eat hoping the power would be restored when we got back. It wasn't. It didn't come back on for a week. Good times.

No one beats Mike As fried shrimp. Flash fried with a good crust.

Maybe I’m thinking of something else. I remember a Rax Roast Beef drive thru in Metairie. Or thought I did.

Arby’s stays true to its roots. Rax is struggling on a national scale, but there are still a few locations left. Danvers was the best.

Roy Rogers was my favorite, bun and roast beef melted in your mouth.

One was opened Birmingham, Al. And it closed in under 2 years. I ate there and was sad when they shut the doors. I believe it may have opened in 2001 and closed in late 2002?

I used to go there when I lived in BR and remember the gumbo was really good.
And across the street----Bennigans-----I totally rocked the fried club sandwiches in college.

Bennigan’s was great. They had a restaurant called Straya too which is what Copelands cheesecake bistro was back when it first opened.

Something like 10 restaurants left which, IIRC, are mostly in Ohio or surrounding states considering they started in the area.

The R&K in Lufkin, east Texas, is still pretty good but the inside could use a rehab

That name change was crazy. It had Al Copeland and Anne Rice fighting by taking out (almost daily) full page ads in the Times Picayune to bash each other. And even had Copland sue Rice for libel.
