it’s hot as frick today and I’m drenched, about the last thing I’d want to drink is a boozy bitter IPA

That’s why no one will remember your name.

Around 2013 you had some of the best IPAs that ever existed:

Green Flash Palate Wrecker
Stone Ruination
Racer 5
Hopsecutioner by Terrapin

There are still good ones. But breweries are just on an ever ending search to make the craziest most hopped octa-hopped bullshite ever and it’s just become a fad for “craft beer people” especially when it’s basically the same beers just repackaged.

It’s not going to change until people say, “wait this is too much, we don’t want that” but people won’t because for some reason buying the most craziest ipa and posting about it on social media has become the biggest clout chasing fest in beer.

All about marketing these days

I think that was my first IPA. Tastes have changed a ton since but there was enough of a hook there to stoke interest. Soon after was All Day IPA. Then the usual run.

My first IPA was Racer 5 followed by Stone Ruination.

I miss Ruination a lot.

Well I guess if I’m being exact, the first was something like a Red Hook or a Stone, but this was mid 90s and I liked it okay but wasn’t ready for that yet
