If you want to buy bourbon I would suggest this.

Jack Daniels is not bourbon, it is whiskey. Jim Beam is bourbon and that's why you like it better.

I wonder what the rules are for taking Bourbon to another country. I question my ability to get good bourbon in Nicaragua, and man cannot live of Flor De Cana alone. Well, he can, but I need variety.

I have no clue on what the rules are for taking bourbon to another country. I would assume that you could buy the basic bourbons in another country: Jim Beam probably being the most available but at a much higher price.

after my grandmother passed away in 2007 I found 10 bottles of this. 3 pints and 7 5th's.
It still had the paper seal over the tops and they were all dated 1976-1977.

Drink it now. As long as bourbon isn't in the sun it tastes the same as it did the day it was bottled.

Yeah, once it is out of the barrel, the aging process stops. I'm not familiar with the brand. It might have some value as a collectible above just the cost of the liquor? Ask Rick.

This stuff is the poor mans Crown Royal at about $25/handle. After the first 3 or 4 drinks it will start tasting like Crown.

it was reaquired by my dad and he has it in his liquor cabinet. A shot a night is good for the old asthma.

I love Crown but will always choose Makers and Knob Creek over it.

Makers makes me gag. Not sure why.
I like regular ol jim beam. Theres something nice about a rough arse bourbon that makes you talk like john wayne in the morning. Makes me feel like a man.

Yes, Jack Daniels is, by definition, a bourbon.

Blanton's will unseat anything. As an avid bourbon drinker Blanton's sits above the rest. $50 a bottle. Try it at the Chimes (only place in Baton Rouge where I've seen it) before you buy a bottle.

Not it's not. It's done in a similar fashion but it's not bourbon. It's a Tennessee Whiskey.

I've never been to Nicaragua, but good Bourbon is hard to find in Europe, Asia, and Africa. Jack Daniels is readily available, but I've never been a fan. The upside is that Scotch is more popular, and I prefer it to Bourbon because I don't need a mixer.

I thought that by law, Tennessee whiskey must meet the requirements of straight bourbon, and also be from Tennessee.
What makes it not bourbon? If I remember right, the requirements are greater than 50% corn, and then a few proof restrictions, including being at least 80% when bottled. And of course, be distilled in America.
eta:
Here is language in NAFTA about what constitutes bourbon and Tennessee whiskey
quote:
Annex 313: Distinctive Products
1. Canada and Mexico shall recognize Bourbon Whiskey and Tennessee Whiskey, which is a straight Bourbon Whiskey authorized to be produced only in the State of Tennessee, as distinctive products of the United States. Accordingly, Canada and Mexico shall not permit the sale of any product as Bourbon Whiskey or Tennessee Whiskey, unless it has been manufactured in the United States in accordance with the laws and regulations of the United States governing the manufacture of Bourbon Whiskey and Tennessee Whiskey.

Jack Daniels uses maple charcoal and the maple is considered an additive which technically is not allowed by bourbon standards. Also it is not made with limestone filtered water. Other than that the processes are the same. I am a bit of bourbon snob though (kinda like the wine drinker that bitches about how the wine isn't good enough at dinner). Jack Daniels is for all intents and purpose a bourbon but it's not bourbon.
