I do agree that this location has went down a little. I go there pretty regularly as I love their Prime Rib. Probably the first 20 times I went everything was perfect. Now it is hit or miss with about 1 out of every 4 meals being up to standard.

I think this may be location specific. I havent been to any outback that was god aweful. I have never been to the one on Jones Creek either. It is possible to have one site badly managed or owned by a cheap arse franchiser. Hell the guy at the popeyes on staring orders smaller chickens to save money and charges more. That one sucks but doesnt mean Popeyes all suck.

they are not franchised

it could have just been a bad cut and a shitty batch of shrimp from the distrbutor...BUT, if the shrimp were that bad they shouldn't have made it past the KM during prep

I liked the Queensland Chicken and Shrimp, but I think they took that off the menu.

And I'm a fan of the bloomin onion.

I worked at Outback when I was in undergrad and I loved the food for what you were paying... I dont think any entree was over $24. The cheese fries, though ungodly bad for you, are the best cheese fries I have ever had. (though that may be due to the homemade ranch dressing). The Alice Springs Chicken for $12 is a steal... The seasoned and seared prime rib is really good too... I love the homemade croutons! Their crawfish pasta is good too...but even better if u get them to serve it over rice.

Outback used to be my "go to" (yeah, sue me)restaurant because of two things:

1.) The house salad(was one of the best in BR)
2.) Alice Springs chicken

A few months ago, I went to the one on Jones Creek and was shocked to find that they frickED WITH MY SALAD. It was MUCH smaller and had chopped red onions in stead of sliced whole rings, and pre packaged croutons. I was pissed, to say the least and told the manager that he sucked, but he told me it was a corporate decision.

I think the honey mustard was different as well. I haven't been back since, so maybe it was just an isolated incident, but I doubt it.

Say it aint so! say it aint so! Those were the best croutons I have ever had... I would sit in the back and just snack on them when I didn't have a table and was hungry

Same type experience for me recently at acadian location. I know I know you get what you pay for but in the past the cheap sirloin ($13 i think) was a great quick steak esp w/ the salad and potato. Just the last few times the steak has really come back to reality. If i go back ill just have goto the strip i guess.

I was wondering if it was just me. I thought maybe I've just been too many times, but I think Outback may have run its course.

Salad - different somehow; it just doesn't taste the same. And the onions are in little pieces and the tomatoes are different, too.

Steak - ordered rare, came medium rare.

Potato - not as loaded, but I could have asked for more.

Things just don't seem the same at that place.

it's not .. the food is definitely different .. they have cut back on the size of the salads .. croutons come pre-packaged .. the shrimp are smaller .. the steaks don't taste the same .. and portions on the steamed vegetable sides have shrunk too .. about the only thing they haven't fricked with is the draft beer .. i guess that's next .. might start adding water to the foster's draft to stretch it ..

I have never liked the steaks at Outback. When I go there, I usually get chicken or fish.

Ditto for me, the rack of lamb is usually very good too.

I used to wait tables at my local outback about ten years ago. I went with the wife a couple of weeks ago and I noticed a lot of changes that just didn't feel right. We used to never offer steak sauce as that is almost an insult to the steak. Now they have A1, Heinz 57 and some other one that I forget sitting there on every table! The menu is all wack now. I think they used to be much better when they focused on the basics. They have all kinds of new stuff on the menu like crawfish, lobster, griller thingys, etc. My attitude is why try to do it all when you can just kick arse at a couple of specific areas.

Man I miss the employee discount. 8 dollar filets kicked arse!!
