Let’s face it, this is just an ego thing for Trump. He wants to be the one to acquire a huge landmass for his legacy, and he doesn’t care how many relationships across the pond he burns in the process.
Unfortunately this is more of a driver than it should be.

What natural resources?
And if your answer is rare earths then you are incorrect. Rare earth elements aren’t all that rare. North America has more than Greenland. They are quite common. Most countries haven’t processed them in last several decades because it’s a nasty effort environmentally speaking.

Explain in detail how Greenland is vital to US economy?
On security there isn't anything already that the US can't get or do defense wise in Greenland wo that really doesn't smell right.

For sure is possible. Could be more prodding for the Euros to get their crap together on defense. They don't take gentle hints and assume the US will manage everything for them forever and ever.

I can assure with 100% certainty that the midterms will be a bloodbath if Greenland is invaded. Any good policy that's been in place will be erased. And for what? Trumps ego? A place with inhabitants that have lower income than the poorest US state?
Best case is the US gets more people on the welfare dole and not gain anything we don't have already.

Trumper needs something else to fixate on.
Because Obama has one.

how are those topics, skills, and assignments going to help them get a job?
Unfortunately colleges appear to be slow on adjusting practices and degrees to the new AI world. If AI can do it there’s no reason for a company to hire for it.

Oh for freak sake. There isn’t a trillion worth of “minerals” in Greenland. If there was it would be coming out of the ground already.

Yay more welfare recipients on the dole.
There are several folks on the board who’ve forgotten more about the oil industry than Trumper will ever know. Real estate isn’t the oil business…not even close. If it’s such a wonderful investment I’m sure Trump and family will put 75%+ of Trump family net worth into Venezuelan oil production.

Exxon didn’t fall off the turnip wagon…why put money in a place where you’ve had all of your assets stolen before? Trump will be gone in 3 years…oil industry investments require putting money out for 5+ years before starting to see a return. Exxon CEO is responsible for managing investors money…not catering to something Trump will forget about 6 months from now.

re: Question for Refining Baws
Posted by LSU0358 on 1/8/26 at 10:03 pm to RanchoLaPuerto
All crudes aren’t the same. Last big money spent in refineries in US was 2003 to 2007 period and those dollars were spent to process heavier crudes than US shale. The light shale crude has to much hexane to naphtha range material and it overwhelms crude units.

Do you know that the US currently has more rare earth reserves than Greenland?

(1) Bringing tigers from Florida to LSU games.
(2) Trying to eliminate scholarships for LSU athletes who don't participate in the National Anthem even if their team has not participated in the National Anthem for decades.
(3) Making sure LSU football does not commit to eight-figure, multiple-year head coach contracts.
(4) keeping pot illegal
(5) making sure trial lawyer buddies can keep pillaging on business that are still in the state

Yay, more welfare recipients. Take a look at the income of the Greenland population. The US can already do anything it needs defense wise with Greenland. Why add more mouths to take care of.
Sparkler lit the ceiling fire. Explosive fumes developed from the flame and then boom.
When I was young and in my 20's I wouldn't have thought twice about being in a crowded room with a single narrow exit. Now in a place like that once a crowd starts to build I'm gone.

Anyone want to bet that more is leaving on these flights than coming in? Some mullahs, generals, and families are moving out assets before the overthrow. Probably lots of gold bars etc.
Pooty poo gets a cut for a flight out.
You guys lap up Russian propaganda pretty well...and the Russians aren't even that good at it any more.
Its very simple folks, the Russians don't feel secure historically unless they indirectly or directly control from Eastern Poland all the way down to Bucharest. To get that control they'll lie, cheat, steal, invade, etc.
