Tried to find recipe for something my mother used to make at Christmas time she called pecan glace'. Google search goes to glazed or candied pecans. Tried one just to see and came out like bad pralines. What I'm looking for is like a hard candy with toasted pecans-not really a pecan brittle, harder than that, like a rock candy almost but clear/dark brown candy with pecans. Any help from the old people out there(like me)?

Most country mammaws cooked simple, great, but simple. I’ve never had what you describe. However, I would hazard to guess that it was sugar, vanilla, little salt and a little water cooked to “crack” stage on candy thermometer, pecans added and dropped. Were I you, Id try just that and see how it turns out. Little invested and maybe a lot gained, if it had a slightly softer texture, like a harder caramel, cook to “hard ball” stage.

Yeah I think you're probably right about getting to"crack" stage-just trying to avoid reinventing the wheel. Thanks much

She also made what she called "Bohemian coffee cakes", individual triangular pastries filled with ground pecan/meringue/sugar mixture and powdered sugar glaze icing-i can't find anything remotely like it with Google search
