Rouses king cake is nasty

Can't believe it, but here I am upvoting an LE post. Walmart has a better king cake than Rouses

Just an FYI most grocery stores buy frozen cinnamon roll logs that they roll out into king cakes. Not sure who the supplier is, but most of the associated groceries do this. Rouses may bake in house, but not sure they "make" them in house.

I've had 10 different king cakes this year. Haydel's was by far the worst one. Dry, lack of cinnamon and flavor, and way too many damn sugar sprinkles!

I've head the birthday cake and one other this year. They still suck, they just have wacky flavors to mask it.

Haydel's doesn't have sprinkles, so...

Sounds like whatever you had was old, or from Rouses.

Oak Point is legit. We finally had one over the weekend, and it was awesome. Tasted like what I remember as a kid. No hate to Rouse's as a store, but this one was better.
