While I am the biggest fan of Louisiana Lagniappe I couldn't help but notice you got the fresh fish in parchment, which is my favorite dish. The last few times I have been there the fresh fish of the day has been Black Drum. I can't recall the last time they had Redfish or Red Snapper as the fish of the day. Has anyone else noticed this trend at Louisiana Lagniappe or other restaurants?

LA Lagniappe is my favorite BR seafood restaurant by far. They do love the Black Drum though. Good fish, but it is ALWAYS the fish of the day. They even changed the Snapper en papillote to Fresh Fish en papillote and guess what that means, Black Drum en Papillote.

we went to deangelos on coursey a few weeks ago for lunch on a saturday. it was dead and the service was horrible. ever since then i've been paying attention to the parking lot when i come home. no one is ever there. i'm wondering if its on its last leg.

Same here. Went to go to Dempsey's last week for lunch. The place was PACKED. I mentioned to my wife that we could go to Deangelo's, but I thought they were closed because there were no cars in the lot. When we got on coursey I noticed a few in the front. We ended up at Jasmine's instead which was a good choice.

I wish they would ease up on putting numerous sauces on one piece of fish.

Out of these menus, I see exactly one piece of fish you could say that about.

I get pretty frustrated with the Baton Rouge dining scene sometimes, but there's no need to make things up when bashing it.

Yeah .. Deangelo's on coursey is hurting .. the lot is empty M-TH .. and half full Friday & Saturday .. his prices have just gotten ridiculous and the food quality and level of service are no longer keeping up ...

This comes up in every discussion of Baton Rouge restaurants and it frustrates me to no end. Not that it gets brought up, but the fact that it is true just about everywhere in the city.

Same here. You can make a meal out them with dipping the bread in the sauce.

At some point, one would think it would become worth their while for at least one BR restaurant to actually get really serious about product procurement.

this was one of my regular spots until they did the revamp of the burbank location and changed the menu completely. i could get the exact same thing at a smaller portion for a larger price, or a slice of pizza kept hot by a heat lamp for cheap. no thanks.

It was a special...they claimed it was redfish...not sure it was (though that happens often)

Me,too. I've had better one's at Parrain's than Acme the few times I've compared. Overall, Parrain's is a good value.

I am sure I will get bashed for this, but Parrain's chargrilled oysters were average at best...I will say the same for the Galley's...its not like I am picking on a BR establishment...

There are Drago's, then the rest...until you step up into fine dining...Restaurant One has some excellent ones with roquefort cheese.

Acme in Metairie has very good chargrilled...never been to the BR one though.

come on TA .. don't start the NOLA vs BR shite ... for the 1,432nd time .. NOLA's dining scene blows ours away .. no argument at all ... Comparing a BR joint to one down there is apples to oranges ... That's like someone coming on and saying his kid is an excellent middle school QB and the next guy starts comparing him to Drew Brees ...

Has never matched the original location in Hammond Aire. Once the owner branched out, with every new location opened, the whole thing went farther downhill. Do one and do it right and be satisfied. Might as well be a national chain for what they put on the table now.

Louis let his dad talk him into franchising ... Then his dad and Johnny completely fricked it up legally ... Louis got sued by the franchisees and was forced to take a lot of those stores back .. so it was a forced expansion ...

and I completely agree with you ..

The last few times I have eaten at Deangelo's I have liked it. I don't think I ever had a bad meal or service there. Both the service and the food have been good every time.
