(pss, I only added the last part to not offend the sponsors. I have never been tubing in LP; just didn't want to offend)

Jerk's on Hwy 21 is getting better and better. Good atmosphere.

Friends is the worst "decent" restaurant on the NS.

The one in Slidell looks like its straight from the 70s and is outdated but don't let that deter you. The food is solid. I've never been to the Madisonville one but I've always heard people say the steaks at the Slidell location are better and cheaper in price.

It's like a cheap Margaritaville . And trust me, it's nothing like Jamaica, man!

But it's still as good as your TulaneLSU's lists.

My taste buds aren't as refined as some so LaProvence wasn't that impressive to me. Nuvolari's was great (would be on my top ten list).

Some others for consideration:
1) Michaels in Slidell (very underrated IMO).
2) Pecks Seafood (jsut mainstream LA seafood but large portions and very good)
3) ZEA's

I disagree with your list but we all have our own opinions. I travel to Nola for most of my fine dining and probably don't love 10 places on the northshore. In no particular order; my favorites by type:

Mexican: La Noria Taqueria on Hywy 59 in Mandeville. They have lengua and menudo. The only authentic Mexican food on the Northshore (I am half Mexican like Zimmerman). The competition may be owned and operated by Mexicans but if you don't have el pastor, lengua or tripe - they are simply pushing tex-mex shite.

Pizza: Pizza Man in Covington. Cheesy atmosphere and spotty service. Pizza is awesome and the salads are good. Coldest Abita I've had.

Seafood: Nothing great although Rips and Friends have atmosphere. I go to Mandeville Seafood Market or Pat's in Covington and cook it at the house. K-Gees is OK but I sense they are struggling. I try to support them now and then.

Sushi: Kazuko in Mandeville. They knocked off Sake Garden and Megumi as my previous favorites.

Steaks: Gallagers in Covington. I do not like Keith Youngs - the steaks are bland and non-steak items are not very good. The atmosphere is very nice. Gallagers taste great and everything on the menu is good. The atmosphere is not too hot.

BBQ: Sweet Daddies in Covington is great. The only real good BBQ I've had in the area and that includes the overrated Joint in the Bywater.

Italian: Del Porto but I haven't been in awhile due to constant mixed reviews. I only like a few things at Sal and Judy's and don't like to drive to Lacombe.

Fine Dining: Juniper in Mandville has been good to me. I was mixed on La Provence but it is still a solid choice. Cafe Lynn was tasty but I can't deal with that location for fine dining. I shamefully have never been to Dakota and I live with 1/2 mile of it.

Good salads and taco plates. It's not fine dining but good enough.

Where is the love for Friends in Madisonville? That setting is tough to beat.....

The setting can't make up for the fact that it's overpriced and the food is mediocre.

How did kazuko beat megumi.

Megumi is my favorite sushi place anywhere. Huge a very good rolls for very cheap.

That looks like an excellent list. Granted, I am by no means an expert of Northshore restaurants. My fear of bridges of water prevents me from eating there often. To give you an idea of how great that fear is, I once traveled on Airline Highway all the way to Baton Rouge. Then I took the interstate from there to Lacombe just to eat at Sal and Judy's. I can't imagine there is a better restaurant than Sal and Judy's up there. Keep making these lists, please. If you have a top 10 for Slidell, I'd love to read it.

If you wouldn't mind doing a little more historical narrative, I think we could work on some projects together.
