Ketchup ruins everything it touches. Mustard, however, is glorious.

Yeah... but why?

As a previous poster mentioned - there are some very famous burger establishments that have been featured on the Food Network and travel channels that are very intentional about their anti-ketchup stance. Where did that come from, and why is it okay to use Mustard?

Only thing i really use ketchup on is fries, onion rings and hashbrowns.

Id prefer an aïoli or something but that isnt readily available in my fridge.

Ketchup gets a bad rap because people started putting it on EVERYTHING and it contains a lot of sweetners and other flavors.

Mustard is mustard seeds, vinegar, water and spices. It's a more pure condiment.

It also enhances rather than over powers in many people's eyes.

I love ketchup on burgers and dogs though. And fries.

I'm not a fan on fried food, I like the tang of horseradish with my fried foods.

I think both are personal preference and do not consider either offensive. Dropping my burger or hotdog on the floor before serving it to me would be offensive.

Yeah, it's legal, but it ain't a hundred percent legal. I mean, you can't walk into a restaurant, open your bag of hash browns, and start noshing away. They want you to eat in your home or certain designated places.

Breaks down like this, okay: it's legal to buy it, it's legal to own it, and if you're the proprietor of a restaurant it's legal to sell it. It's illegal to carry it, but that doesn't really matter 'cause, get a load of this, all right; if you get stopped by the cooks in Louie's Café, it's illegal for them to search you. I mean, that's a right the cooks in Louie's Café don't have.

Its not offensive to me. I don't use a lot of it even when I use on fries or fried fish. I really prefer tarter sauce on both, though, and not a lot of that. I do like spicy ketchup. I also use it as an ingredient. I've never enjoyed it on my burger or hot dog, though I'll use the spicy with horseradish and hot sauce on a fried shrimp or oyster poboy. Always on the oyster, but either that or tarter on the shrimp.

A flavored mayo, that is the condiment of choice where they make the best fries.

Meatloaf, french fries, onion rings, certain fried seafood poboys, and that's about it.

When I was a kid though...ketchup went on pretty much everything not named pizza.
