I saw that too.

Do you think his dying words were, "Another... settlement... needs your help..."

You up on your lore? West Tek.

The Great War was going on for years. We annexed Canada and Mexico and maybe other places. We also bombed Canada and Mexico to insure they do not rise up from the ashes before the US.

Edt: We even moved bases into Canada because the Great War fckked up the whole country. Europe no doubt was destroyed. The US, Russia and China bombed each other AND their allies.

It was total razing.

Besides, we're talking 200 years. Literally the same amount of time it took the US to go from 13 upstart colonies to a superpower. Yes, it is certainly rougher than what the colonists encountered, but not even WVa to DC in that time frame?

Population density.

Resource availability.

Post bomb conditions creating borders.

Politics.

That mountain would create a boundary even greater than previous times. The buffer between the two sets of human survivors would need more time.

Edt: Wasn't Eden on the Virginia and West Virginia border? They seemed pretty much left to their own.

good points. im not exactly familiar on the specific timelines

I figure, the vault 76 players (us) eventually set off nukes themselves and that leads to the razing described in fo3, but your comment and timeline knowledge suggests this happened before the events of fo76 and WV should be a desolate wasteland.

Looking into the mutants thing. I guess if humans got exposed to enough FEV they would mutant without the assistance of the Vault 87? and the Master's help.

So I guess Super Mutants are realistic.

Edt: Blah I have all new theories on this game with Mutants and Vegetation. Take back most of my previous statements.

NEW THEORY

West Virginia

Wasn't totally razed by the bombs post 2077. The Great War did damage but it wasn't hit hard.

Evidence: Eden in FO3. This was in the West Virginia/Virginia area. Ppl settled here because it was basically untouched.

Vegetation Issue: Hence example of Eden, leaving the possibility of Pre-War flora is basically left untouched.

Super Mutants: The humans in the area did not get exposed to large amounts of radiation but had been exposed by the airborne FEV released into the atmosphere from holding tanks during the bombing. Without large amounts of radiation, humans would turn into Super Mutants with the exposure of FEV.

I thought the humans exposed to that in "the wild" just turned into ghouls. The Super Mutants were a specific experiment, right?

Guess I need to read up on my lore.

I guess I'm basing all of that on the super mutant lab underneath the institute in Fallout 4.

Pretty sure the ONLY source of Super Mutants was FEV. Radiation doesn't play a part; they're just immune to it (which was the original purpose of the FEV). FEV holding tanks, though, is supposition? Or is this from somewhere?

Yeah that was further comfirmation for my theory.

The Master needing "pure" humans and the Institute needing "pure" humans. With flora in trailers basically untouched, this area must not have been hit hard by the bombs. Without the razing, humans in the area did not become exposed to large amounts of radiation.

So the FEV effects are nearly immediate. Radiation effects at lower levels wouldn't alter human DNA enough and therefore allowing the FEV to work. Radiation exposure over time would then alter human DNA past the point where the FEV would take effect.

So earlier post 2077 would turn into Super Mutants and not the later humans in the area.

Correct.

The humans did not get exposed to large amounts of radiation to alter DNA yet.

All of it supports my new thought that West Virginia wasn't hit hard. That is the reason I mention Eden and flora in the trailers.

Every Fallout game. This is the reason for some of the mutated fauna. It got released into the atmosphere. Most mutations associated with radiation, some by FEV and most by FEV and radiation.

I imagine there are large pockets of the country that weren't hit all that much. This will be an interesting take on the Fallout universe.

Yeah. I take back razing the world.

I say relatively large pockets now. We had Eden which wasn't affected. Now we see the same situation in the trailers within the SAME area.

It is a big leap to believe the small release of FEV into the atmosphere coming from 2 locations (maybe more) affected everything. But take into account that we do not know the amount of FEV required to transform humans and fauna. It is however not a huge leap to make that not every location in America have different exposure levels based on location. Yes everyone would be "immune to FEV" over time but areas with less exposure would not be immune right after the bombing.

Well, if we take the trailer at face value, a bomb did hit relatively close to where the game is set, the guy in the power armor getting roasted for the most part.

Yea. My thoughts at first.

But the guy could be on the outer most edge with other natural borders placating the effects.
