I'm definitely staying blind. Some of the clan is going to Google most bestest way to do everything but I ain't messing with it.

I can't help to think part of the reason it took so long was due to the light level deficit.
I'm not saying the raid isn't mechanically challenging, just saying when normal trash mobs take an ult to clear, that artificially inflates difficulty.

Yeah, the light power deficit is a big reason why no one (?) has finished yet.
You could have played 15+ hrs a day since launch and only gotten to 560ish. And that mainly depends on the rng of your powerful drops. Even with 6 players around there, your team is still 20 light lower and every enemy will have a sword overhead.

Yeah googling it seems like it kind of defeats the purpose. I want the raid to kick my arse a few times and have to figure out each part myself. Unfortunately, since I don't belong to a clan that shares this philosophy, that will be pretty much impossible to find a fireteam that wants to do that. I just don't like the idea of like 50 guys figuring out the strategy for 1 million other players.
With that said, I couldn't resist watching the final encounter so I have been watching Datto and the crew trying to take down Riven. This raid's a beast.

I stayed up way too late watching Datto’s clan try to beat the raid, I was just so engrossed in it.

Yeah I agree with you.
I really hope Bungie keeps going in this hardcore direction rather than designing the game to cater to casuals. Not that they’re mutually exclusive, but there’s a reason why this was the most streamed game on twitch last night.

Same. I love what they've done with forsaken. The tone, the world design, the raid being a true end game experience. Iron banner comes back with level advantage enabled Tuesday. Lots of good stuff happening.

you can also find a nightfall that starts in the open world and instead of doing the strike, find a lost sector and do that over and over again. the enemies in the lost sector will be at nightfall level I believe.
just ran the lost sector in will of the thousands after loading into the nightfall. all the gear I got was year 1 blues below 400.
maybe the named yellow bar boss at the end of the lost sector has a chance to drop high level gear, he didn't drop anything for me.

I think the way they have it now with getting powerful gear and infusion costing a decent amount of materials is also the best way yet. It's really not hard to grind out glimmer and mats. Just takes some effort. I hated the way the game was dumbed down in y1.

My only complaint so far at all is the economy. Infusing is incredibly expensive and there isn't a great way to get master cores easily.
I'm also wanting to go in blind. I didn't do the cabal raids until Warmind and I was easily able to find a group let me run with them as a first timer. I've played since D1 launch and I've never watched a video on a raid before doing it. To me it just sort of spoils the experience.

Farming the old raids would be a decent way for cores & going to see The Spider, he sells them for certain things depending on the day.
