Finishing the raid or winning in trials should be the only way to hit 305 IMO

If this were the case, I'd quit playing. As it is, I don't have a squad i play with. This game has been 99% solo. There isn't a good form of matchmaking. The guided thing is a joke. Who wants to wait 20 mins do to nightfall or an hour to do the Raid? If these things can't be done solo or by utilizing matchmaking, they should not be a requirement for max level. And they aren't.
I have feeling that once I get all my characters to 305, I'll be waiting on DLC to play again.

Why? The raid is the endgame for PvE and winning trials is the endgame for PvP. The best shite should be tied to beating the hardest shite. But that’s just like, my opinion man.
I don’t understand the desire to be at max light if you’re not doing raids or trials. You don’t NEED to be max light, or anywhere near it in fact, to do anything other than the endgame stuff. You get the same loot, power level is the only thing that changes with the exception of trials and the raid. And that stuff isn’t necessarily “better,” just higher light and distinctive from the other loot.
The game really has to be played with friends to enjoy it. If I didn’t have a squad to play with I wouldn’t enjoy it at all once I got done with the story. I wouldn’t play after that other than occasional PvP for mindless entertainment.

You shouldn’t be able to achieve endgame by doing public events.
They should also let players reroll armor so they can play with the stats they want. Having a max recovery of 4 on a hunter (with the IB stuff) is ridiculous, especially when mobility is largely useless.
I got to 305 on all three characters without doing the raid one time.

Careful. There is a serious downvoter in this thread for calling out how shallow this game is.

Are you getting powerful gear from heroic public events? How else are you getting powerful gear?

Yeah. Feel ya on that. I'm at 298, 299, and 300 base on my characters. Haven't completed the raid yet (but soon). I'm driven to get to that 300 base, even though there's no benefit as I don't intend to do anything prestige. Once I get all my characters up, my interest level may drop significantly. I do however still greatly enjoy gameplay. Just plugging in with friends and killing shite.

I'm at 278 and feel like the grind is tough. If I'm not doing weekly or can't find anyone to do the strike I feel like the game is kinda empty.
MP is fun though. Once you get MIDA and a legit kinetic it's really fun, although I shouldn't be able to kill people with an auto rifle from the distances that I have.

The milestones will get you there. And that’s what I hate about D2. Everyone levels up at basically the same rate. You about 3 hours / week to do all the solo milestones and 20 hours a week ain’t gonna get you a whole hell of a lot more than that.

I haven’t done it this week, but previously I was just doing the nightfall, flashpoint, and call to arms on each character. By the time I was done with that I’d have a clan engram. Once I finished those, I’d move to my next character. Once I was done, I’d put it down for the week, unless we were playing trials.
Once you’ve claimed all of your powerful engrams for the week, there is really no point in playing that character anymore if your goal is to level your character up. If you want to play just to play, by all means go for it. But if your goal is to get as close to 305 as possible, just do the milestones each reset and then quit for the week.

No,it isn't. It's an optional gameplay mission. The endgame for PVE is the last mission.
It's is certainly not my fault that I don't have a steady crew to play with. I have invited multiple people from tigerdroppings clan with no response. They may have had other shite going on, doesn't matter. I should be able to enjoy the full extent of the game with the most powerful gear possible in a solo environment. I'm not sure how that affects you.

The distance at which you can destroy someone with Uriel's is insane, therefore I'm forced to use it

Is this from Xur? I get pasted by it a lot myself.

It's a legendary energy auto. Xur is terrible this week.

I have it on one character and it was just a drop. I cant remember which one area. I realize that this isn't a big help. Sorry.

Its a legendary, so XUR doesn't carry it.
I got 3 in random drops.

Failsafe or an engram.
