Wait until ur weapon level is at least 4 to try him if u hate him that much. The reward for killing him isn't usable until you have 30 strength anyway

I haven’t read the whole thread and don’t know where everyone is or everyone’s thoughts. I’ll just say for now, I do love the game. It delivers. I personally found it harder than I imagined I would, preferring Bloodbornes combat above all their others. I tried Samarai first and that’s a mistake imo, re rolled as something else that made initial game easier.

Tip for everyone. Make sure you do Fia and Ranni’s quest lines or you’ll miss out on a massive amount of hidden content and areas
Not sure if I did them correctly, but Fia gave me some item that apparently reduces your HP by 5% but increases your poise. I think if you consume the item, the effects get reversed?
And Ranni is that blue witch, right? She just gave me the summoning bell and disappeared. Are there more to these characters than the hug and the bell?

Yes they have massive quest lines that hide a DLC worth of extra content. They are important to the ending you get

Oh damn. I am only on the second region with the swamp and whatnot. Might need to go back and talk to them again.

You’re thinking of tree sentinel.
He has a fire breathing, lightning infused cousin. You’ll meet him much later.
I beat him but it took me a minute to learn how to avoid his lightning strike attack.

I can’t stop watching YouTube videos of this game. Soulsborne games always fascinate me and I love hearing about peoples experiences with them. I just wish I was good at them. I tried DS1 remaster a couple years ago and never made it past the capra demon. Downloaded Demon Souls remake a couple months ago to prep for elden ring and I didn’t get stuck but I’m only past the 2nd boss and haven’t played in awhile due to time constraints.
Decided not to even frick with Elden ring after hearing it’s probably the hardest of the soulsbourne series lol. I’ll stick to living vicariously through you guys for now

Elden Ring is probably the easiest one if you summon other players for help and use the ashes of war. But the hardest if you do it solo

I imagine most people fall into the camp I do. I find Bloodborne much more enjoyable and also easier and less frustrating than Dark Souls. If that’s the case you won’t find a reprieve here. While there is clear points of inspiration from their entire catalogue even Sekiro this very much plays like Dark Souls 4.

I've never completed a souls game but am not finding it that hard to progress on elden ring. The world is awesome and the fast travel system is a huge help as well.

I found Bloodborne to be much more difficult than the DS trilogy. But the gameplay is definitely better for the most part. Sekiro will always have the most engaging gameplay, but yeah, ER plays much more like a DS4. I am just glad they added stuff like the jump and the horse, as it adds much more to the gameplay. Same with the Ashes of War and the spirit summons.

Which is honestly fine imo. That’s what it looked like it would be and that’s basically what people who knew what to expect expected it to be. There seems to exist this subset of people who assumed Elden Ring would be a lower barrier to entry for FromSoft they could play on cinema mode and enjoy a new George Arg Arg Martin show. I imagine they pretty pissed.

Still early in the game. Favorite weapon is the cleaver on a stick you get from the xp midgets, made merget my bitch solo and havent lost to him a single time since from helping other people - unless they get killed of course. Beat several other bosses with it, poke dodge poke for the win.
Farming armor sets from enemies for fun now while collecting souls and upgrading my cleaver stick.
Will probably be my GOTY and hope it has a healthy DLC cycle.

I'm sure it will. Some of my favorites areas are dlc areas from ds3 and ds1.

Is the Bloody Ashes of War worth it on the Uchigatana? I think mine is now +4 (or 5), and I’m level 31 Prisoner and haven’t fought Godrick yet. Didn’t realize it sacrificed health for the special move.

Finally dug my teeth into it and was really digging it, PC is much better now at least on my rig.
Messing around in Stormveil currently after clearing the first area from what I can tell, it’s been better than I expected. Easily the best game I’ve played in the last couple years.

I think so just based on the extra bleed to the weapon. The weapon skill does consume both FP and HP, so do be warned. But in a pinch, it's pretty good.

I’m at level 64, I’ve got strength, vigor and endurance out the wazoo, I’ve got all these big arse weapons and I still die all the damn time. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. It’s not even fun at this point

In my experience so far:
Big weapons suck, enemies, especially inhuman ones, move with bloodborne speed and deal a shitload of damage very quickly.
Big weapons lock you into retarded long animations for damage that doesnt make up for the licking you can take, ESPECIALLY when you're outnumbered. And thats not even touching some of the weird hitboxes ive noticed (failing to hit short enemies for example)
The huge amounts of damage enemies deal lenda the game much more towards stacking status effects and the poke-dodge-poke-dodge playstyle.
I went from getting stomped constantly using big swords to breezing through most enemies with my cleaver on a stick.
Endurance doesnt seem like a good stat, either. Not when theres an item that raises your weight limit by a lot. Probably wont take it past 20.

Well I finally had my first rage quit moment of this game. I was fighting the witch at the raya lucaria academy. I had finally beat her after a long fight only to find out there is a second phase.
I'll try it tomorrow and will prob have better luck. It's almost impossible to get a lock on her when she drops in the first phase because of all her goons. I think I will have better luck going melee first phase and trying to save my spells for second phase.
Now I gotta try and wind down and get to sleep.
