That’s my thinking, which partly makes me want to get a 1070/1080 so I can do an upgrade once ray tracing is more common and these 20 cards drop a bit.
I was planning on buying one of these, but not at those prices.

It's also nice to hear they're getting back into SLI configs with these new cards.
Now will game devs do it too? Probably not

599 is the 2070 founders edition on Nvidia's site.
799 is the 2080 founders edition, and 1199 is the 2080ti founders edition.
The founders editions have slightly higher boost clocks than the "base" cards that the AIB can sell (although the AIB can overclock them anyway).

The 1080ti will be a viable card for a long time. Ray Tracing is relatively new for games, and it will take a few years for game devs to fully adopt it.
Yeah I was just reading that it is crippling the performance of the cards with Ray Tracing on, 1080p can't hold 60 FPS on BFV and the new Tomb Raider with dips under 30 FPS on the 2080ti.

But still, it’s tough not to be a little concerned when the ultra-expensive, ultra-enthusiast RTX 2080 Ti isn’t able to hit 60fps at 1080p in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. We weren’t able to see what settings the game was running at as the options screens were cut down in the build we were capturing, but GeForce Experience was capturing at the game resolution and the RTX footage we have is 1080p.
With the FPS counter on in GFE we could see the game batting between 33fps and 48fps as standard throughout our playthrough and that highlights just how intensive real-time ray tracing can be on the new GeForce hardware.

SLI or NVLink? On Nvidia's site, it looks like they are selling NVLink bridges for the new 20xx series cards, but I've seen other sites saying SLI will be promoted with these cards too.
Either way, it would be nice for them to have more emphasis on performance with Multi-GPU configurations.

Genuinely curious what games a 7700k performs crappy on.
Not what I said, my specific 7700k is not a very good one. It has thermal problems even after delidding. I have a custom loop, I want something I can overclock and this 7700k that I got isn't up to that.
I've been getting into some Unity design stuff and any more CPU I can throw at it, the better.

ray tracing is more common
It's probably going to become pretty common in a lot of bad games since it looks like Unreal is going to support right off the bat with crappy games like Ark already supporting it.

What speed did you and what temps? You apply all the thermal pastes correctly?

Jayztwocents said he had an "inside source" at nvidia saying there going to bring back multi gpu configs
Posted on 8/21/18 at 9:35 am to UltimateHog
Well, this is a brand new architecture, with those demos using very early versions of Nvidia drivers and early game builds with RTX enabled.
So I wouldn't jump to any conclusions yet.

Ehhh, idk. 30 FPS at 1080p not even ultra settings is very concerning.
Now we know why they chose not to show any benchmarks.

47 or 48, is the best I can do, don’t remember temps. It’s been awhile since I played with it. 49 is very unstable and won’t get through a benchmark.
Yes on pastes. Had a massive drop on temps after delidding.

The benchmarks I'm most curious for is seeing the performance without RTX enabled when comparing vs the 1080ti.

Yeah, Ray Tracing seems like it will be one of those features you turn off until it's truly ready.
Posted on 8/21/18 at 9:53 am to UltimateHog
Yeah, but once it is ready, I could see it dominating. After getting my feet wet in Unity, being able to use real-time in a meaningful way over baking, light probes, and reflection probes is a dream come true. Looks amazing with very little effort, it’s gonna be a game changer.

Saw a Jayztwocents video and he said that the prices really didn't go up that much. What they did was Rename the Titan to the Ti and bumped everything down.
2080 Ti = Titan
2080 = 1080 Ti
2070 = 1080
2080 Ti = Titan
2080 = 1080 Ti
2070 = 1080

I'm going to get a 1080 ti most likely. I could get an EVGA SC2 for $599 right now, not sure if I should jump on it or wait a little while.
