I've now consistently been able to get to Groal, but to be honest I'm not sure when I'm supposed to be hitting him if I'm hiding down in the maggots. May need to watch a video of someone exploiting the safe spaces.
Ran out of shell shards so I'm going to have to leave the area and replenish/farm on that loop in The Marrow below the Bellway.
This boss and Trobbio are the two that I need to clear out before I get too far afield and distracted. I believe there's a Craftmetal after Trobbio, so I'll need to get the Silkshot in Mt. Fay when he's dealt with and I get the Melody that follows.

I recommend this for sure. Bottom right is definitely the spot! It isn't all that hard, once you see it...but, it's not all that easy either

One video I saw on Reddit had a dude stand on the right balcony platform and spam the boomerangs and the threefold pin and took him down in about 30 seconds.

DAMN! I just watched it, that's a definite way to get it done!

I've tried that multiple times but haven't been able to make it happen. I was able to get the the second phase where he starts the mobs/traps inbetween attacks, but I keep taking damage in stupid spots.
Is it possible to get the 4th tool pouch upgrade in Act 2? I have the capacity upgrade, just not the last power upgrade.

Looks like I need to complete the last of the fleas to return to the circus. I think I have one or two more.

Finally beat Trobbio and was able to unlock some of the shortcuts that make traversing the lower levels of that area easier.

His death throes was amusing. I had multiple runs where I tried ALL the red tools in the course of taking him down, and it was mostly to no avail. Most of the damage was handed out the old-fashioned way with my nail, just trying to get hits in where I could.
I'm sure that's going to be how I finally get Groal in Bilehaven, too. That fight is just so frenetic that it's hard to be patient and wait for the patterns to develop and get swipes as they become available.
I have 2 more Fleas - one in Mt. Fay that I wish I'd known to grab while I was working on the Faydown Cloak, and one in the Exhaust Organ area, which I have yet to discover. I found the entrance into The Mist from the bottom left of Bilewater, but never made it all the way through to the EO.

IMO, you should go there. I used the reward for the area almost the entire game from when I picked it up to the end

I found the Mist area but got supremely frustrated with those wraiths. I don't recall why I gave up on completing the area, but it's next on my list.
That's the fascinating thing about a game as open as this one - I'm 2/3 complete with Act 2 and have yet to complete half a dozen bosses.

VERY productive evening!
Successfully navigated The Mist from the Bilewater side.
Made it to Exhaust Organ.
Took about an hour to beat Phantom.
Rescued remaining 2 fleas.
Returned to Fleahaven... Only to discover I had already gotten that tool upgrade after rescuing 22 fleas.
It took a bunch of digging, but apparently I never bought the upgrade from the Twelfth Architect.
Most importantly, I FINALLY BEAT GROAL. It wasn't exactly the red tools burned down from that one Reddit post that I shared a few days ago, but it was pretty close I emptied the clip for the tri-fold pin early on, and use the boomerang while getting down in with the maggots.
That additional 20-25% that the fourth tool pouch upgrade gave was absolutely the difference maker, but I'm sure I could have stretched the fight out longer once I was finally getting the hang of getting hits in where I could.
The fight with phantom was absolutely fantastic especially the cutscene for the killing blow. The only thing I'm not sure about is how to use the cross stitch effectively. I'll have to research that a little bit. Between that and the witch crest healing mechanism, I don't have a clue for either of those just yet.

Finishing Shakra's questline and getting her assistance in that High Halls gauntlet was the key for me to get the Conductor's Melody.
Right now, I have a few choices:
Suck it up and get the Savage Conchfly taken care of, earning the Conchcutter red weapon and wrapping up Sands of Karak;
Try and tackle the First Sinner in the bottom right of The Slab; or
Fight Disgraced Chef Lugoli in Sinner's Road to get the Pickled Muckmaggot, then do that run for the Courier's Rasher and finish the quest for the next Pale Oil upgrade on my needle. I imagine this will be necessary before wrapping up Act 2.

Got the best of Disgraced Chef Lugoli for the Pickled Muckmaggot, and finished the Courier's Rasher on the second try. The trick to making that run all the way in time for me was the begin at the end, kill all of the enemies as I made my way back to Bellhart, and turn around to duplicate the path without saving so there were only environmental obstacles and the time limit.
Made it back to the questgiver with only about half single unit of time left on the clock, but a win's a win. The Pale Oil for the 2nd needle upgrade was greatly needed.
Having a helluva time with the Savage Beastfly, the Voltwyrn (getting to him without taking damage in the Voltnest is impossible for me), escaping that lava gauntlet in Far Fields to the right of the first Pinstress.
First Sinner and Second Sentinel are also giving me fits.
I've completed all of the melodies in the Citadel and have access to the elevator to go further up, but am trying to get some of these other areas nailed down before I proceed towards what is clearly the end of Act 2.

It's been entertaining reading your accounts
Seems like you've done a lot of stuff to open up Act 3 when you are there. Some tough fights there too!

Thanks. It's come from a lot of online research/specific boss strategies.
Rock, Paper Shotgun's walkthrough has been my favorite, as they break reach region up into annotated steps on their map.
This interactive map from GamerGuides has been useful, too
The fascinating thing about Metroidvanias in general is amplified a hundredfold in Silksong - You can take multiple pathways to get to the same areas, miss some entirely, and you'd never know it. There have been a ton of red weapons that I had no idea were accessible to me much earlier in the game and discovered that there was a breakable wall or hidden passage that I didn't catch.
Does anyone know off the top of their head if there is a tool/charm that can be equipped that reveals breakable wall sections, etc?

I’ve been on Act 3 for like three months now. Get too fricked up trying to get the fine oil from the courier quest, and was getting my arse kicked by standard enemies, and I knew there was another additional fine oil somewhere else and finally found it last week. Now getting a bit more on the bandwagon because the 4th needle upgrade makes the difficulty manageable again.

If you’re talking about like xray from super Metroid, no I don’t believe so.
A lot of times you can tell from looking at the map that there should be a hidden area in a certain spot. Sometimes you just experiment by hitting walls, floors or ceilings. By the time I was going into lost lace, I just looked up what I was missing and got it, but there wasn’t a ton of things I missed.
