I especially loved how they killed off the love interest as if it would have some emotional string to it. Who cares when you don't even meet her?
I really hated 15. More so than 13. And I am a pretty big fan of the series. I have beaten every one multiple times. But I can't even recall all 4 characters names in 15. I just pushed it out of my mind after beating it.

Also, I agree with the rest of your post 100%. I like 13 a lot other than the hallways/lack of cities or exploration ... also not a fan of the story. But it has good combat. I feel like 12 was where they lost their way though. 6-10 was such a good run.
Video games reviews always have a certain degree of subjectivity. I respect your opinion, but as some who has played 1-15 (some of them several times) I think 15 was actually good for a FF game.
The oldies were the best is a common argument. But were they objectively better?
I would argue that 15 let's you fully explore the world much faster than 6-10.
Also, how was 10 filled with much more content than 15? If you look at video game guides of 10, the player maps are relatively linear as 13. In 10 (just like older FF games) you dont get to traverse the world freely until the final 20% of gameplay story. FF 15 "autopilot" is modern gameplay convienice. You can always drive the car yourself if you prefer. Personally I like to eliminate busywork (which is what many elements of 6 to 10 were).
And gameplay?? Spoony's YouTube video on FF 8 is still up. The Draw System was better than real time combat????
Granted, you can get very overpowered if you cleverly use the system but that's in any FF game.
Even as a veteran player, I think some of the hate for modern FF is nostalgia based.

Unequivocally. You don't even have to use "Draw" in battle if you don't want since you can synthesize magic through abilities. The biggest drawback to the Draw System in FF8 was that you felt like you couldn't use the best spells because it would lower whatever stat you had that magic junctioned to - which is a valid criticism. On the flip side in 15 I think I used magic once the entire game so that point is moot, to me at least.
FF15 wasn't a bad game but it is near the bottom of the list of FF games overall.
