Nice. I'm mostly with you on console emulators but I have an ideal setup - PC permanently hooked up to the big screen TV, wireless keyboard and mouse and controller. If I didn't have all that stuff, why would I throw out an old system I already owned and buy some other replacement shite?

If you had $3-$4K worth of stuff that can be played on free emulators and roms you would dump it all?

I like to break out my original Nintendo and play Mario bros. and yes I have to blow on the cartridge and push it down halfway in then wiggle it back and forth.

I also enjoy my Atari, PS1, PS2, SNES, and sega genesis from time to time. Got a few others in storage.

Atari to PS1? Yes. (Well it'd be the smart option but I'm a hoarder, especially electronics.)

N64 and beyond? No. Emulation starts getting tedious, unreliable and buggy for me. Not worth it, just hooking up the original system is less of a headache.

Now if I could replace everything on virtual console for less than I bring in from selling the stuff, it would be the smart option. I don't think I could.

I like to collect things. While I don't hold on to Madden 2001, I do try to hang on to some of my favorite SNES and PS1 titles.

I could sell my snes copy of chrono trigger on ebay for like 100 bucks, which is less than a quarter of what my health insurance costs per month.

To me that's just a waste. If I sold everything I have, I would be looking at a few thousand dollars which is nothing by today's standards.

I just like having my classic systems and games, they're priceless to me and the money I would get from them would be too short-lived to be worth it.

I agree it isn't much but I am the type of person that doesn't hold onto stuff unless it's something I use on a regular basis.

Besides, all of the stuff I am selling I have found in the past year or so and gotten for free so I have no attachment to any of it.

My 360 is there for NCAA14 and that is pretty much the only reason I kept it.

I tend to laugh at people who spend tons of money on retro consoles as if they were valuable. I do understand that some people just enjoy the collection.

I've mostly gotten rid of all my old stuff usually 2 generations after they have passed. I do still have a game cube and a n64 packed up with the Mario games, zeldas, and goldeneye. I hook them up sometimes.

Emulators are great but sometimes you can't find a decent Rom of a game.

You should do a Google Doc or something with all the gaming stuff you have and are willing to sell. I bet you could sell a lot of it here on the GB.
