That might have been in black flag, I cant really remember. I tried to forget most of that story.

Yea, I don't quite remember what the overall story was about. It was either a couple of greek gods or aliens or something that watched over the earth. Some sort of solar flare was about to wipe out the earth, so the alien gods made some sort of shield to protect it.
Fast forward to Desmond, and there's another solar flare on the way. He's the key to either activating the shield or not, and letting humanity reset itself after the earth gets nuked. But then one of the god aliens would be released on the internet or something. I don't get how the Templars are all wrapped up in that story, either.

It's not aliens. There was a race of beings before current man. They were similar to the Roman gods (I think...one was named Minerva and another Juno). I believe they created man and eventually went to war. Then a solar flare wiped out most of everything and current man was left standing. AC I through III is about avoiding the next solar flare that will wipe out humanity.

Black flags got aggravating af to me. Well, so did unity.. syndicate was definitely my favorite and the easiest plat.

Yeah I liked Syndicate better than Black Flag. The Victorian London setting was really awesome.

Black Flag was gorgeous and island hoping was the tits, but I guess I'm the only one that didn't care for the sailing aspect mostly due to always getting my arse kicked.

Naval combat got a lot better once you upgraded your ship a little bit. I could take down those big royal navy ships like it was nothing.

I didn't do any missions until my ship was upgraded to the story locked portions.

I love the naval aspects of the game. That's the only reason I got black flag. I'm not playing any more of their shite games after the way they ended the Desmond story. Nothing like following a story through multiple games, hundreds of hours, and thousands of questions for the ultimate end to be the completely unfulfilling and utterly futile death of the protagonist.
The only thing worse is what bioware did to Mass Effect 3.
