Completed the first mission in Africa.

Africa ramps up the difficulty. I have 3 main missions and 21 side ops that haven't unlocked yet. 70% completion. I keep hitting the 5 million GMP cap, so I'm just upgrading everything I haven't used or needed. I have one more platform to build on motherbase and a couple platforms left on my FOB.
I assume I unlock the hard difficulty upon completion of the main missions/story. Can't wait to replay some missions to develop strats and find little secrets I missed. One thing I am missing is the girly posters on the cardboard boxes. Not sure how to get those and really haven't used the boxes, but I'll find them!
I have a couple more old MSF soldiers to find. I am really curious how that sub-plot plays out.

Would the base development platform be best to max out first? I assumed it would since it speeds up your materials processing and the damn fuel resources is what you need for nearly everything.

I don't know the mechanics of it, whether it speeds production or whatever, but I know it is necessary to develop your motherbase as much as possible to unlock weapons and equipment to develop.
I do know once I hit about mission 35, I had to keep selling resources because I was pulling in so much. That gave me a lot of GMP that I used to research more stuff. The dispatch missions are a pretty good source of easy resources and GMP. When you develop a FOB, you can tackle 4 dispatch missions simultaneously.
I had an update load on my PS4 today for MGSV. Not sure what it was for. Hopefully they fixed their shite servers. Twice yesterday i got an invasion notice, but the game wouldn't let me go defend my base and I got raped. "Unable to secure connection". Meanwhile, some 12 year old Chinese kid stole my stuff. The security features suck when someone just runs and guns your base when you're not online.

I run low on GMP every once in a while. I play every side mission until there are no new ones before I do a main story mission. I can upgrade my base dev or r&d to max level, but I'm thinking base dev. will be better in the long run. It's taking forever to get 48000 fuel resources.

I just rescued Miller. I went to the initial village to get acquainted and then I went straight for Miller. I assume I should be exploring more though. And holy vision the enemy finally has. This is awesome. They can see beyond 20 feet.

Yeah I find sneaking is a bit of a challenge in this one.
With that said I also find it's rather inconsistent.
I can take out a base, but good grief it takes me forever to do it one by one.

Early on it's a PITA to sneak because your equipment sucks. It gets better. I fricking HATE choppers, LOL
My favorite loadout and tactic while being sneaky is the silenced tranq sniper rifle, Wu Pistol tranq, stun decoy, smoke and sleep grenades. DD fully upgraded is a beast. Marks EVERYTHING for you.
There are a couple outer ops missions you can send your army out to that can get you extra fuel, but yeah, that is easy the hardest item to collect. There's an airport in Africa that has a lot of fuel. After every 5 missions/side ops, items repawn, so I go there over and over to farm fuel.
BTW, just finished the main game. Meet ya in the spoiler thread for story stuff...

Is there a way to reveal the extra objectives during a mission.. maybe with intel?
I'll get 2 or 3/6 and have to replay it because it only shows them as ??? until the mission is completed once.
Some I don't have the gear for (fulton transport container), some are hidden like find diamond cache, but would like to knock them all out at once if possible.

If there is a way to see the hidden objectives, I haven't found it. Some of them are ridiculous and have absolutely nothing to do with the mission.

You're not lying. On that timed tank mission 2 of the extra missions were like 1) Find the escaped prisoner wandering the desert (the fricking desert) and 2) capture 2 of her pursuers.
I luckily ran into her on accident but still.. come on

No. You have to complete the mission first, then the optional stuff is revealed. That said, you don't have to completely re-accomplish that mission. Just go back to the mission, knock out the optional stuff, and leave. You get credit for doing them even though you didn't complete the main mission objective(s).
Posted on 9/14/15 at 2:09 pm to The Quiet One
Are there still rewards for completing the side objectives but not completing the main objective?
Posted on 9/14/15 at 3:00 pm to leRev
Yes and no. You don't collect the stated GMP if you don't accomplish the main objective, but you get any rewards entitled to you relating to the optional objectives. For instance, any blueprints you find are yours, any prisoners with specialized skills are yours, etc. but anything relating to the mission itself is a "no".
What I did was knock out the mission however I wanted. Then I replayed it to knock out the 2 or 3 hidden objectives and exfiltrated without doing the main mission. Then I'd S-rank it. (Still have more to do there, some were tough). There were two specialists I didn't rescue by the time I find finished, so I went back, rescued them, and bolted.

Got the intel platform and it helps a ton.
Getting easier.

I was farming outposts for NPCs with high stats in bd and support. Found a guy with an A in both. A ton of enemies around him so I stake him out and skillfully take out most of the mooks. When I get some breathing room I go in for the takedown -- and Quiet pops him in the head as I throw him to the ground.

LOL, that has happened to me too when I forget to tell her to stand down (cease cover). I'll kick some KO'd jabrone in the head to wake him for interrogation and she insta-tranqs or insta-kills.
