Because they take years to develop games, a luxury a lot of companies don't have
This is a horse shite excuse.
Companies choose to forgo that development for quick money and trash product

That's usually on the publisher, not the developer who's at their mercy.
Nintendo is living on their own planet and doesn't have to fuss with publisher/developer relations.

in 90% of cases, publishers don't allow developers that much time. game development is absurdly expensive and your risk rises exponentially with those very long development cycles.
nintendo doesn't have to worry about this.

Why not

Because they only answer to themselves. And apparently way more money than they know what to do with.

Developers are actually starting to spend more on marketing than development. Gta5 and cod for example spend hundreds of millions on advertising

I agree with what you're saying, but I don't think MGS Ground Zeroes really fits. It was released a prologue/teaser for the main game and it was $30, not $60. Never was intended to be an "early access" deal.

Agreed. My issue with that game is the principle behind it. Back in the 90s to early 2000s ( damn I'm getting old, huh?) MGS Z would have been considered a demo. Usually given out for free or used as a promotional item ( think FF15 demo that came with FF Agito )
I mean seriously, you could beat Ground Zeroes in a one-hour session, and that if for newbies to the series.

In the US, I would agree, but there are cases of developers releasing a Prologue for a big title to get people a deeper dive than what a demo would offer. ( Gran Turismo 4 Prologue)
The price dropped on Ground Zeroes so quickly, I didn't mind paying $10 for it. Got enough value for it then.

Then you have DayZ, which is six years into Alpha, beta testing kinda sorta in the works, and people bash it to no end for taking years to develop. There is no middle ground
DayZ should of just been a DLC mod for ARMA 3. Rocket is a douche and Bohemia fell for his garbage. Made a lot of money off it though, so who could blame them.
